The Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has today swore in the newly elected Council Chairmen and their Deputies of the 27 Local Government Areas of the state in Dutse, the state capital.

Speaking shortly after the swearing in, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar ‎charged them to be fair and just in the discharge of their duties irrespective of party affiliation.

Governor Badaru said the successful conduct of the local government election in the state shows that the people of the State heed to the calls of the government to ensure a hitch and violence free election which he commended all stakeholders for ensuring a hitch-free poll that recorded less or no violence.

He pointed out that with the swearing-in of the newly elected chairmen the interim caretaker committee has been dissolved.

He added that it is a thing of pride, as the state has joined the league of other sister states that have entrenched democracy in the grassroots.

He, however, employed the chairmen to enhance revenue generation, revitalise the education sector, healthcare services, agriculture and to continue with the laudable initiatives of the state government aimed at improving the lives of the peoples.

The Governor also charged the newly elected council chairmen to lay enviable a solid foundation that the future councils will continue to build upon which he said it could only be achieved if all council members, heads of departments and sectional heads are involved in the decision-making process in consultation with the stakeholders of their areas.

Governor Badaru further commended the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) for holding a successful election and also praised security agents and well-meaning people of the state for ensuring a successful poll.

He, however, thanked the outgoing Caretaker Committee for their contributions toward the development of their respective Local Governments Areas.

Responding on behalf of the elected Chairmen, Alhaji Aminu Sani assured the Governor of their commitment towards working in line with the change mantra of the APC-led administration.

The chairmen were earlier administered the Oath of Office and that of allegiance by the Solicitor-General ‎and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice Barrister Hauwa Zakar.
