now I caught you here, let me say this. Nairaland is not evolving. can't we have inbox for private chat? can't we be able to delete our post, at least when it has not hit the front page? can't we have video status just like instagram, whatsapp, facebook etc? I want Nairaland to evolve. social media is changing fast but Nairaland isn't. please do something about that.

By the way, I would love to moderate a section of Nairaland, especially the business section. Thank you

Programming Section as it is called. I think there should be more about programming problem, solutions, tutorials etc. At least a mod should be able to start a Programming tutorials, a Q & A on a periodic basis. solve different problem on a periodic basis. Not just posting and waiting to hit front page. I should be able to say it's because of Nairaland I'm a programmer like other websites

Seun has a strong point someone has to moderate. I can since I have been here for a long while and have the best interest of people here. But once I do nothing like ponzi will exist on this forum.

Like someone said earlier, Nairaland needs to evolve to meet the current changing Web2.0 atmosphere else it would go into extinction like it's already doing gradually.

PS: Nairaland didn;t grow in A-Day so unless something is done, it would die gradually (though won't die in A-Day)

I have offered severally to moderate, but you have said nothing.
The state of the board is too terrible, and something needs to be done (or people will start finding alternatives).

And this reminds me, there is this snake in my compound I have been trying to catch, I will try catch it alive so that I can make Nairaland frontpage - this is faster than sharing some awesome library or stuffs I have created (or even sharing great sites and apps i have built this year).

I believe pcguru1 is a better candidate. I have shifted my attention to stackoverflow these days, and it will take a lot to really become active here again. I am just watching this thread with the hope that it wont go the way of the previous ones i.e. without any action being taken at the end of the day (which in my own opinion is more than likely).

I run multiple work all the time, but i must always be on nairaland i use it for news and learning life experiences, am always active here always even while at the office now, am here.

I work at FIntech coy so i meet lots of guys and it's cool knowing others here, believe it or not referral is the way people get jobs these days Emeka Afigbo from Google referred the former guy from that Nigeria Taxi startup and the list is long.

We have so many smart guys we can learn from even in terms of Complex topics from Whiztim and others.

I still remember the days when real clients come to this board to source for programmers, I got many clients back then because this board serves as a show-case of Nigerian developer talents, this board has made money for lots of programmers back then (my self inclusive).

But now, looking at this new board and all these things that I see, I feel like weeping.

You need to create some sort of voting system, topics that get down voted are either deleted or moved below, while topics that get recommended are moved upwards (showing that its helpful)

^^^Great, those were the days I was talking about. Then me, Qadrillo and Webdezzi were always competing for tutorials, and here made many people build their skills. Then it was a better environment for us than stackoverflow.
But now, see as the whole thing be. Then I was just a good web developer, but now I am an expert in mobile app world (and software world), but the new environment here makes it impossible to share knowledge or even help people.

Back then, if you run into any programming trouble and you post am, there will be a rush to solve your problem, even in the middle of the night, you see solutions and tech arguments entering. But now, no more of that.

I am doing fine, still doing my thing (on a different level now), but no longer live in Lagos sha, I now stay in Ogun state (permanent site) very close to Nairaland office.

the unfortunate thing is, SO, quora and codeproject have taken all the best guys from here.

^^^Well spoken, the truth of the matter is - even putting a good moderator on this board is not enough to return things back to before.
And all the quality posters that left are not going to come back easily, I doubt if some of them still open this board at all sef.

Many nairalanders come to me on Facebook with stackoverflow links to questions that they posted. But back in the days, you see people calling me on phone to please help them look into a problem they posted on nairaland (but not anymore).

When I first came to this board, I knew only PHP and JavaScript, but by interacting with a lot of great programmers, I learnt a whole lot of other languages and techniques till my programming stack was full of languages even to the point of overflowing (stack-overflow error).

Yeah i think it's already too late, I get emails from here from those interested in programming there are now much crazier community, e.g Reddit there's where am picking Maths and Algorithm challenges and lessons and it's fun there. Ponzi has killed this section.

Oh yeah, as far as I am concerned, this board is already dead and will be very hard to revive. However, if corrections like good moderation are attempted, it might gain back some part of its past glory, but all or even better will require a lot of hard work.

There was a time when I cannot resist posting an article on something that I am working on, share a github link, share important projects I did or was doing, share some of my personal libraries e.t.c but that time has long since passed, and the truth is - my motivation to post such things on nairaland has been frustrated continually to the extent that the ZEAL is dead. And once ZEAL is dead, it is hard to revive again.
