Time for Jonathan to act is now to quell this crisis

No need for double face . . . . . .Mr Jonathan must stand up for what he believe's in and act on conviction for what is right. He should show some leadership, address the Nation asking everyone to remain calm. He should now authorise a fact finding team led by Edwin Clark or General Andrew Owoye Azazi or Ufot Ekaette or anyone else he Jonathan can surely trust including in the team those who claim to be best friends of Yar'adua as well as independent professional high level medical doctors to go to Saudi Arabia to find out the truth.

If they go to Saudi Arabia and are refused access to Yar'adua, then the team can legitimately come home with the conclusion that Yar'adua is missing and the assembly can impeach him for gross misconduct, if he is found to be incapacitated then we will know and FEC can start the process under section 144 to remove Yar'adua. If he is well and responding to treatment then they can come home and say so with a letter from the President saying that he is on medical leave and we can all move on while we pray for President Yar'adua to get well soon.

If the President is too sick to sign a letter, then he is incapacitated. Its that simple

This business of displaying unwarranted loyalty in the media by Jonathan and turning around to refuse to sign documents or filling in for the President like a Vice President does is in itself gross misconduct. Leaders can get into trouble for their ACTIONS or INACTIONS.

In this case Jonathan's inaction is getting alarming and should as well get him into trouble. After 80days of power vacuum, the Vice President should begin to show some leadership or resign if he is uninterested in his job.

Tomorrow's FEC meeting is a big opportunity. He should not be decieved by the yeye resolution passed by NASS today, it amounts to nothing. He should thank the Senate for their effort to resolve the situation quickly but demand that there can be no substitute for the due process of the law to take its course. He should then allow Dora Akunyili's memo to be discussed. After which he should announce a plan to send a delegation to go on a fact finding mission in Saudi Arabia on his behalf.

Folks don't buy the crap of a powerful kitchen cabinet

There is a limit to their powers. If Yar'adua is not there and can not be proven to be there they will immediately eveporate into thin air.

This is what happens in politics, when you leave a void they are usually filled by special ineterests.

This void exists because Jonathan has refused to act. And that is the truth. If Jonathan does act this so called kitchen cabinet will have no say until they are able to produce the President.

However if Jonathan knows that he is happy with the status quo and want to remain loyal to them and his boss, then he should sign the budget, play along and stop heating up the polity by ignoring these things so that we can all move on.

@ Mckren

Both your posting above is excellent, and I hope Goodluck Jonathan take a deep sleep, survey the atmosphere and do the right for his country as you have suggested transparently.

He should also keep an eye on the Armed forces. He should take a trusted ex Military Chief as Defence special adviser to advise him on the Army, because the North are capable of anything when it comes to Presidency and political powers.

If they can murder MKO Abiola, they will do it to anyone who does not understand how the military works. OBJ knew them and was able to deal with it for his own security and well being of the country.

That said, PDP as a party will not allow anyone to do anything serious to move the country forward unless you have the mettle, spine, nerves of steel and conviction to do the best.

I personally think that YAR A'CLUELESS is dead long ago ( brain dead and on life support against medical advice), and his kitchen cabinets are just looking for a joker but that never happens. True those kitchen cabinets are not as powerful as they pretend or held out to be.
