Indications emerged yesterday that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was left in the dark over the cabinet adjustment carried out by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.

Jonathan, had on assumption of office, reassigned the former Attorney General of the Federation, Mike Aondoakaa to the Ministry of Special duties, replacing him with the former Labour Minister, Chief Adetokunbo Kayode. Both of them are senior Advocates of Nigeria.

The move by the acting president, LEADERSHIP gathered, came as a surprise to the party hierarchy, who had on Tuesday paid a solidarity visit to the acting president at his lodge. The National Chairman of the party, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, led the party delegation.

The source at the PDP national secretariat, told LEADERSHIP that the news of the cabinet reshufflement equally came as a surprise to members of the National Working Committee of the party because the matter was not mooted at the meeting between them and Jonathan.

The source, however, stated that while the party was not against what the acting president did as the commander in chief, he was not fair to them - "at least for the sake of making an input in the matter."

"We were with the acting president, but members of the NWC were not told. It came to us as a surprise. This can be verified from some of the calls, which some of us made to you members of the media, trying to ascertain whether what we heard was true.

"It is not that the party is against what the acting president has done, but in the past, the party was always in the know. He is the acting president and commander-in-chief, the buck stops on in his table. We certainly will not control him on how he does his things, he is in charge, but it is fair to let us known, at least for an input."

Also, the source noted that the party was equally not aware of governors' trip to Saudi Arabia, yesterday to brief President Yar'Adua on recent events in the country.

Governors of Bauchi, Benue and Katsina states: Isa Yuguda, Gabriel Suswam and Ibrahim Shema, had reportedly left the country on Wednesday to brief Yar'Adua on the state of the nation.

They were not pre-informed of the cabinet shake up.
They were also not informed of the saudi trip.

Are things falling apart for the PDP?
