North Korea 'carefully examining' plan to strike Guam with missiles.

North Korea says it is "carefully examining" a plan to strike the US territory of Guam with missiles.

The threat came hours after President Donald Trump told Pyongyang that any threat to the US would be met with "fire and fury".

A spokesman for the Korean People's Army said the strike plan will be "put into practice in a multi-current and consecutive way any moment" once Kim Jong Un makes a decision.

He added that "enveloping fire" would be used to contain major US military bases on the island territory in the western Pacific Ocean - including the Anderson Air Force Base.

KCNA, Pyongyang's state-run news agency, also carried a statement from a different military official which said North Korea may carry out a pre-emptive operation if the US shows signs of provocation.

Trump: N Korea 'best not make any more threats'
Earlier on Tuesday, the Washington Post had reported that North Korea has successfully made a miniaturised nuclear warhead that can fit inside one of its intercontinental ballistic missiles.

The newspaper said that claim was contained in a confidential assessment by America's Defence Intelligence Agency.

An analyst who specialises in North Korea, who asked not to be named, told Sky News that he believes Pyongyang is "a lot more than halfway" to achieving its aims of producing a nuclear weapon capable of exploding above the US mainland.

He added: "It's fair to say it's just a matter of time, in terms of being able to hit the hit the US with a (nuclear) missile."

On Monday, North Korea responded angrily after the UN imposed tough new sanctions on the isolated state following the test firing of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Pyongyang said the sanctions were caused by a "heinous US plot to isolate and stifle" the country - and its officials also threatened to make America "pay the price for its crime... thousands of times".

With the way things are going, it's only a matter of time before one country bombs the other then retaliation starts. Countries will be chosen as allies and before you know, we are in WWIII.

Well, end of the world.

Was watching the news sometime around 12 midnight and must say from the rhetoric coming from both countries, we've never been this close to a nuclear confrontation since the cold war.

But be that as it may, I don't think we'd get to a point where there'd be an all out nuclear war because there is just soooooooo much to lose especially by US and her allies. I think both parties would step away from the brink when they step down from their high horses and take good stock of what's at stake here. China and Russia would make sure of that. wink

I don't think Kim wants war, I think all he needs is respect from the world power, especially the US.

Lol. True, no country would support NK in an event of an all out war, that was even evident in the last UN Security Council vote where neither China nor Russia vitoed US's proposals for tougher sanctions against the rogue nation.

Be that as it may, NK wouldn't waste a second directing her missiles to South Korea, which is exactly what US doesn't want! So the threat to strike US mainland is more or less a bluster from the mad ruler. In addition, there are other low lying fruits like Guam and Hawaii which are pretty much within range of Kim's missiles. I don't think US's retaliation would be decisive enough to disarm the nuclear state before they hit those two Islands.

In addition, South Korea is also just right across their border. Make no mistakes, should anything happen to South Korea, the world, especially China, would blame the US! Moreso, China surely doesn't want her region to be turned into another Mideast where countries would send their most recent products of advances in military technology and engineering for testing.

The escalation we see today is nearly unprecedented but I still do not think the world is about to open another theatre of war, not by a long shot.
