OZUBULU IN THE SPOTLIGHT
BY Agha Egwu
I raise my hat to Oluwatoyin Vincent Adepoju, FFK and Charles Ogbu in their master class demonstration of the power of clear headed thinking. After reading all sorts of comments and thinking deeply on the issue, I follow their lead.Crime is researched by signatures. Ozubulu is clearly a radicaI Islamic signature - AK47, Church, Army Uniform, Jihad popularised in Nigeria by radicaI Islamists like Boko Haram. Until we see arrests and proven evidence from trusted sources that this is a drug war, we cannot rely on thesweet words of a questionable Muslim Police Commissioner or the political reassurances of a compromised Governor. All police commissioners in Nigeria are mostly Hausa Fulani or Northern Muslim and the role of this strategy is becomingclearer everyday - to suppress, aid and abet Jihadist kilings and other actions for Islamic expansion. You would be naiveto believe otherwise. From Colombia to America to Nigeria this is NOT the signature of a drug killing.I don't believe that an Igbo drug pusher will carry out mass killings, even in a church. Its simply illogical. Igbos dont do mass killings of innocents. Its deeply ingrained in our DNA.Igbu Ochu, murder, is a deep taboo in Igbo land and that is why we absorb killings in Northern Nigeria without retaliation. It is almost impossible for an Igbo man to wantonly kill another who has done him no harm, even the innocent brother of an enemy. In any case, Drug pushers know that when they hit only fellow drug pushers the police may ignore them, so they try to avoid hitting innocent bystanders. They don't like innocent bystanders dying even in crossfires either. It's just not good for business as they prefer to operate in the shadows WITHOUT drawing attention to themselves. This was not fishing out and hitting individuals in a congregation. This was not crossfire from a shoot out. This was opening indiscriminate fire on a congregation - a hall mark of radical Islamists. The first it ever happened in the South East was at the church at Nkpor - with AK47, Army Uniform - against IPOB worshippers. With a Fulani Commissioner you can be sure it would never be called an Islamic terrorist killing, even if it were, so the veracity of any further police investigation is in doubt. The claims of the police Commissioner does not impress me. In this country I have learnt not to rely on the words of the police, the army, the president, politicians and certainly not Governor Obiano. I have no reason to believe Governor Obiano who called IPOB demonstrators MISCREANTS in my presence instead of being outraged by their deaths. His instinct was to cover up the murderous military. I have no reason to believe reports in National newspapers or the TV. They lie.But I can trust more the reports of Charles Ogbu who is already on ground. For our own sake, we must do our own independent investigation to unearth the truth, so we can prepare ourselves for the onslaught that has been predicted to come. Anybody who tells you this is hate speech is an enemy to truth. Radical Islamists have used these kinds of methods to terrify people into submission for Islamisation. If it looks like a dog, barks like a dog, smells like a dog, it is a dog. It is better to err on the side of caution and call a spade a spade, until we have incontestable, proven evidence from trusted sources that it is a fork.
