It has been discovered from my experience as a lawyer that some persons including business owners have a wrong perception on the role of lawyers in the community as they wrongly believe that legal practitioners should only be called upon when things are not going on well or when they are faced with dispute of various kinds. In other words, it is a common perception that the services of Lawyers are only necessary in times of distress or trouble
Whilst it’s true that the services of lawyers are commonly required in dispute resolutions, it is pertinent to state that it is however wisdom to work with a lawyer in dealing with issues which have the potential to blow out of proportion if not well managed.
Business owners need to be aware that lawyers (especially commercial lawyers) by their training, understand how to value a business, negotiate and draft contracts, conduct due diligence, obtain permits and licenses as well as pursuing claims where there is a breach of contract etc.
Even when your business is small, certain legal issues can arise during its early years and having legal support will help you understand your options and make the best decisions about the sometimes complex processes every business goes through.
Some of the services you may require from a Lawyer as a business person include;
• Business Registration/Incorporation
• Drafting Partnership/ Joint Venture Agreements
• Contract Negotiation
• Litigation/ Dispute Resolution
• Intellectual Property Protection
• Regulatory Compliance Services
etc.
I will conclude by emphasizing that it is not advisable to proceed into business or business transactions without proper legal advice or access to such advice.

If you've ever dealt with a catastrophic loss to your home or business, you know how stressful the consequences can be. Insurance companies often prevent full compensation for these losses. This can be especially difficult if you are under emotional stress from losing your home or business and not being able to get back on your feet immediately. It may be tempting to give up and move on. But don't give up too soon! Hurricane Lawyer knows the best way to do everything, so contact the professionals.
