Op, the answer to your question is "no". U say aso ebi is "family cloth". The cloth referred to in the bible said "wedding cloth" meaning the guy was not dressed appropriately for one who came for wedding
Re: Is This Where Jesus Endorsed Asoebi In The Bible? by Nobody: 12:49pm On Aug 20, 2017
OkpekeBeauty:
In recent times, the main purpose of the Aso ebi uniform is to serve as a means of identification with a group of people like, brides family or friends during any special occasion most especially wedding ceremonies. Ankara and lace are the most often used asoebi clothes for weddings. The word Aso Ebi originated from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria but now practiced by other African countries where they are also called Asoebi. Literally Aso Ebi is derived from two words Aso meaning cloth and Ebi meaning family. So Aso ebi simply means Family cloth or uniform

The Aso Ebi does not only make one identify with their group but also makes the occasion colorful and can be a measure to check uninvited guests. In this particular parable of the banquet found in Matt 22:8-13 Jesus identified someone that gatecrashed into a wedding event without an Asoebi or wedding clothes/uniform identity. The invitation had been made, guests were already sited when this happened...

"But when the king came in to see the guests, he spotted a man who was not dressed in wedding clothes. ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ But the man was speechless.

Then the king told the servants, ‘Tie him hand and foot and throw him outside into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Matthew 22:11-13

Note that the culprit is not the bride, groom or maids but a guest. We all know that when guests wear a particular uniform in which they are identified with in a wedding, it is called asoebi.

I recently read of churches banning the use of asoebi, well the reason is somehow justifiable as Pastor Folu Adeboye noted that it is causing segregation in the church and those who can not afford it are often exempt from events. This is understandable since love should guide all our rules. But as for whether it is scriptural, we can see that it is-it didn’t originate from the world

Let me enlighten you little sis...

Afonja is the name of an old Yoruba warrior in time past...so u have not really abused the Yoruba by calling them Afonja...in fact, you have actually eulogized one of their own...even though you meant the negative...

it is like calling the Yoruba's Awolowo or Abiola or Soyinka etc...or Calling the Hausas tafawa Balewa, etc..

But it is different when we call the Igbo Jewish slaves (I wonder if amadioha is a Jew), Igbos, drug dealers isi ewu...

So you see your life...

see your life...

afonja was not a warrior. He was a coward. Pure coward that begged fulani to come and help me fight. And fulani came killed him and turned kwara to hausa-fulani emirate

Op For you cannot understand the spiritual sayings with a carnal perspective. Ask the Holyspirit to give you understanding/Revelation.

Well of course you wanna make a joke out of the parable.

I don't really know why most Christians enjoy doing that

or what do you think
Re: Is This Where Jesus Endorsed Asoebi In The Bible? by OlivetBen(m): 1:22pm On Aug 20, 2017
To start with, it is called a parable. Jesus used things that surround us to preach to the people and since that was the people's practice, he used it to explain how it will be that day when the Son of Man will invite us to the marriage supper with Him in heaven. For them to understand it better, He used that scenario to explain how heaven will be at the last trumpet, how people will feel that they are doing the will of God but will be surprised how he'll tell them "...depart from me I never knew you" Matt 7:23.

So for most of us who are church goers but still engage in atrocities; fornication, adultery, lies, abortion, slander, etc. The time is just now for u to change that garment and put on the right garment for the supper. God help us to follow His banner and serve Him wherever we go in Jesus name.

The master sent servants to go and invite the needy and people on the highway and so on. For a wedding dress to be mentioned here, it means the master must have given the savants the dress for every willing person that accepts his call to attend the wedding.

The odd one must have been one of those who rejected the offer.

I wouldn't want to discuss what the parable means. It's left for you to understand.
Re: Is This Where Jesus Endorsed Asoebi In The Bible? by Nauttyprof(m): 1:55pm On Aug 20, 2017
Firstly, just to correct a view - that you find some things in the Bible doesn't make it scriptural or Biblical. Just like the erroneous view of the days of man being 70years, God's view is 120 years. Both can be found in the Bible.

Back to the major issue, the Bible verse cited is a parable and not to mean an Aso-ebi gathering.

Matthew 13:13 came hitting home:

You tried anyway. You don't understand it well!

That parrable mean the gathering of those who love Him alike, those who are called according to His purpose, those who are righteous alike, those who are holy alike. Those who are His saints! These are those to whom the parable refers to not ASO-EBI! And when there was a sinner in their mist, the Master commanded His servants "throw this man into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth...!"

For, hearing, they would not hear nor understand ... this was why he spoke in PARRABLE!

Can you see...?

Thanks.

I believe Jesus meant something else here, OP, not aso ebi per se.

Wedding apparel is significantly different from those of other occasions so when the man in the parable entered the wedding avenue, he was dressed inappropriately, vis clothes unsuitable for a wedding. He stood out negatively, and of course this prompted the king to have him tossed out by the scruff of his neck.
My thoughts exactly. Plus this is a parable a kind of cryptic illustration with deeper spiritual meaning. The clothes are spiritual clothes.

Whether it is a parable or not, that scripture recognised the existence and importance of Aso Ebi. That settles it.

that verse is a parable and has to do with the wedding garments of the saints that have been called to the marriage of the Lamb.
Are your own garments ready?

She was right. Stop forcing your own understanding of the the bible down our throats.

If you wear ripped jeans, sleeveless shirt in a midst of a gathering of people in suits, babanriga. The security will not only toss you out but rip off your skin with a koboko. How dare you?

Mind how you mention 'marriage of the lamb'...there might be a hilly billy or some Welsh man reading this. You don't want them having some justifications for the nasty things they do with those vulnerable animals. Not everyone understands your 'marriage of lamb' or marriage with the lamb' meaning.

The Op deserves a good slap from a panel beater or a carpenter though.

You need slap. What a funny moro'n. No be only I shall be. For your info 'ashebi' is spelt aso-ebi. But due to the hurry in pronunciation it's called ashebi. No tribe has a different spelling to it, it's all aso-ebi. It's a yoruba word and not I shall be sir

Thank you

The parable was used to illustrate heaven and hell! In a nutshell, be prepared and not found wanting where righteousness as a christian is concerned!

The Op that posted this rubbish is among the stupidest people on this planet right now!

Actually no, it's YOU that's stupid.

You and the other ignorant dolts here that are insulting the OP.

The fact is that the OP has a VERY VALID BASIS for suggesting that Aso Ebi could very well be linked to a very ancient custom that was practiced by some ancient Africans who DID live in the ancient Middle East.

The reason people like you are so resistant to the idea is because you have images if your FAKE WHITE JESUS plastered all over your churches and your heads, even though the bible is very clear that 'Jesus' had ''hair like lamb's wool, and feet like burnt brass'' - AS CLEAR A DESCRIPTION OF A BLACK MAN AS IS POSSIBLE.

So please do not insult the OP just because you have been colonised and brainwashed into associating the bible with the ''white man''.

THE OP IS CLOSER TO THE TRUTH THAN YOU CAN EVER BE IN A MILLION YEARS.

Nonsense....

Do you realise that there are specific old testament biblical practices which Igbos for instance, perform today? For instance, the old testament instructs that when gathering crops in a harvest, you must never return to collect the crops left over by mistake. They must be left for the poor who are searching for food. Do you know that traditional Igbos practice that very custom today? How the hell do you explain that?

Instead of you to go and study the clear linkages, and know your history, you are too busy worshiping white people and bleaching your skins and hating yourselves. Fcking goats.

Let me hear anybody attack the OP again and you will know that khaki is not leather. Umu anuofia!!
