I am one person that is completely critical of undo humiliation of a kid all in the name of teaching him or her manners.

Where I live in Lagos, I have a neighbour who would beat her child to stupor until he start begging ejor ejor as if he is a thief. I have confronted the mother in one occasion and she told me it's to train him manners. I was like whaaat?

While its normal to spank a child, the extent which Africans especially those of Yoruba descent take it can be very extreme.

If such beatings produces a good result why do we still have a failed society with many cultists?Where then is the result? Why are we being neocolonized by the whites who do not touch their kids. Have our society being any better than theirs?

Over beating a child causes him/her to lose courage and compete favourable with his peers. Spank the child a little but do not take it to an extreme. Many Africans default on this believing this is what will make their society better.

Unfortunately we are all dieing to secure visa to overseas where kids are not beaten that way. Where is the result then?
