i agree with your point as moderation is crucial to order in the society. Those are high and valid moral claims. My problem is the 'sin' tag. We are talking of consenting adults here who are fully aware of the consequences of their choices. If they choose to have sex, they are responsible for themselves. Tell me rape, or sex with a minor is sin, and I'll see reasons. And mind you, even after tagging sex sinful, we still have unwanted pregnancies and stds occurring virtually everyday.

I think Jesus, In his ministry, decided to focus on what was important in attaining salvation.

He spoke clear that he wasn't here to judge but to heal the sick and make way for salvation

In conclusion, my opinion on the subject matter is that we Christians should stop behaving like the early Jews.

When you tell people that what is doctrine today is a fusion of Western medieval culture & canon law/theological interpretations over time, they will not understand.

Early Christians like those feed to lions by Nero could not have believed that the world would still exist by now. To them the end was very near. So focusing on making paradise was paramount. Sex, kids, marriage & material wealth were not part of it. Imagine Paul who gave up a lucrative tent making business supplying the vast Roman army. He was a kind of defence/military contractor of that time.

We Africans generally copy/practice what we do not know.

If you read your Bible you will stop Wondering. It's not your Pastor that speaks against sex before marriage; it's in the Bible. And the Bible talks about the bed being undefiled in regards to marriage. That is clear enough from the Bible.
