Good day Nairaland This post is about trying to find my way back to what I believe to be the tribe and ways of my late ancestors. My family hail from Barbados located the furthest out of the Caribbean region, closest to West Africa. As I hope some are aware, the transatlantic trade displaced many people and in particular the Igbo and some Yoruba to Barbados. We have lost our language for the most part, only retaining few words, lost our names and most of our culture as a whole. We have some similar foods, mannerisms and expressions also. This drives me to find out more and embrace my true heritage. For years I've been trying to find my way back to Nigeria, comparing culture, linguistics and history (The British colonised Barbados too) and I'm not sure how to connect back to Nigeria fully. Basically I'd like to find where I can learn more about igbo and yoruba culture. Might I add our prime minister looks awfully a lot like Goodluck Jonathan haha 1 Like
