I"m In Need Of A Canadian Immigrant Visa. Please Help! by Imeobong(m): 9:49am On Feb 24, 2010
Guys, to say I am tired of this country is an understatement. Please I am desparately in need of a Canadian immigrant visa. I need useful suggestions from people here that are conversant with the process.

I have already filled an on-line evaluation form which I scored 72. But after that they agency are asking for $400 for registration. I wanted to pay it but I am afraid incase its scam. Thier website is http://www.migrationexpert.com/canada/

Anybody here that knows them? Are they genuine? Should I pay them? Or is there anyone that knows an agency/immigration layers that are good.

Please honest and good advise will be most appreciated, God bless you all. God bless nairaland.

You can contact me thru: imeiquoho@yahoo.com

Quite frankly, you do not need to make any payments. All the guides and forms are free and can be obtained from www.cic.gc.ca

The agency is not fake. They have assisted a couple i know immigrate to Saskatn. However its pretty much a simple process and no need paying for something you can do on your own. If you are within the qualifying occupation list, then simple start the process on your own. You may be lucky

The only advantage is that you'd be paying someone for a job you can do.

@Delta 007. How are you doing?trust that you are fine. @ poster, I think the advantage of using agencies is the experience they have. However, if you feel you can be meticulous enough, then you can go ahead and process yourself.

Many of them here got no experience, the only experience they got is how to charge rediculous fees and forge documents.

@Delta007 & megastu, thanks again for ur contribution, they are now talking about Arranged employment and how it will improve my chances of migrating, what advise do you have here? is there any way I can arrange a job for myself from here? and having an Arranged employment or not having it, does it influence my chances of getting the visa?

Having an arranged employment will increase ur chance
of getting visa BUT u aint gonna get dat job when u get there
then u start looking for job,

If not dat, den u can do it urself. Either permanent resident
thru d skilled workers scheme.

Check d site u were given cic.gc.ca and take time to read
it very well. I think Canada is a very gud place.

Obviously, if you make several applications a year, you'd have more experience over someone who has not. The guides and forms are as explicit as they can be; You state your name, youir occupation, your history, etc with documents to back your claims up; Do you need to pay a 3rd party to state them for you? Well, maybe if you are looking for someone to "cook up" your credentials.  undecided

Be very careful, very very careful with anybody suggesting that to u. They are going to give u forged employment letter and the Canadian embassy can easily put a call through to the company in question. Think.

Not necessary tho; I know I do knock agencies but there are some agencies that will give you your money's worth. They work side by side with employment agencies. However, with the recession, it's hard getting jobs via proxy unless you possess skills that are really really in shortage and those professions are highly regulated. Not impossible, but in today's climate, quite improbable.

P.S. I dunno why this is even an issue. Under the Skilled Worker Category and some other provincial nominee programs, Arranged Employment is not a pre-requisite. I'd rather gloss over it and make my application stronger in other areas than pay someone to waste my time. Just my 2 cents.

Again, you have to disclose everything; it's for your own benefits. You need to take sometime to go thru the CIC website and application guide; you'd get answers to most of your question from there.

If you do qualify under the "list of 38", you will be looking at anything in between 6months to 12months to get your visa. There are a few tips that can help you get your visa in 6 months, if you avoid some common pitfalls folks fall into. But this site isn't the best place to get those. There are specialist immigration forums for those, and it is absolutely free. All the info you need is on the cic.gc.ca site posted above, but there is a whole lot of info on it. You have various resources like the guides, bulletins, manuals, updates etc, and it can be overwhelming if you don't know which info is relevant for your category and could take weeks of reading for you to really understand the whole process. If you have the time to go thru all the details, you can do it yourself; if not, and funding isn't an issue - then you can engage a consultant, but pls make sure its an OISC registered one in good standing.

You will do well not to go by hearsay, but strictly by what you see on the cic site. Each visa office has its specific documentation requirements, which gets updated from time to time. Many have fallen foul by going ahead to do what their friend did 6months earlier only to get their application rejection/delayed.

Oh yes, you need to include your wife and kids on the forms, even if they will not accompany you to canada at this time. You have to disclose the fact that you are married with children, but you may elect on the forms that they would not be travelling with you, however they all need to be examined(whether travelling or not) and any of them found inadmissible automatically disqualifies you the main applicant.

You may check the sites below to see how others in your shoes are faring, and check out the threads of nigerian applicants.

You can also look at the immigration.ca site someone mentioned earlier.
