That's called Owhorhor in my language. It's usual found in palm grove filled forest.,

It's called okondo in Yoruba language....

Channa Obscura (Obscure snakehead) also called the channel snakehead.

The fish is a breed of ejaaro and kote.

This fish is common I delta state... I remember my aunt prepares it with banga soup... I think it's very bonny... as in e get many bones

The fish is known as Hepsetus odoe- Snake head fish... Google it

snake head(parachana obscura) is different from pike(hepsetus odeo).

This is a type of mullet, the flat and short head make it resembles parachanna obscura or africana (snake head also called òkódó in yoruba) and the 2 fins at the back shows the difference. Snake head has elongated fin at the back but this doesn't have. Also it's not hapsetus odoe (pike).

I'm presently working on dictionary of Yoruba animal names and it will soon be published.

That's a northern snakehead fish that grows in freshwater. Found in lakes, rivers or ponds. Quite tasty too.

This is parachanna africana. It resembles snake.
