In just the First Book and second chapter of the new testament, we see wahala.

New Testament
“When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:14-15‬ ‭KJV

The writer wants you to believe that prophecy written in the old testament was being fulfilled. Remember that in those days, the only books they had were old testament writings.
The problem is that the so-called fulfillment happened hundreds of years prior.

Old Testament
“And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭4:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.”
‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Clearly, Israel was called out of Egypt where they were held captive.
Israel is the son of God, even his firstborn among the nations.

David, His first born among Israel

Psalm 89: 20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
Psalm 89:27 Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

But we had all thought it was Jesus...

There is no God but the most high God.

Isaiah 45:5 "I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me..."

I hope someone's eyes opened

The book of matthew is claiming Hosea 11:1 is talking about Jesus.
It wasn't, the Book of Hosea was talking about Israel

The writer of "The Good News According to Matthew" was pointing out proof that there was more to the Hebrew-Aramaic Scriptures than an "Old Testament". The Jews, which by the way were Matthew's main audience, had so many prophecies about the Messiah in their scriptures that they recognized. Matthew was pointing out that even the things they didn't think were about Jesus Christ really were.
"For the witness about Jesus is what inspires prophecy"-Rev 19:10

Isaiah 8:20 "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

According to you, someone can just show up and start blabbing with no scriptural backing. Matthews words were not in writing at the time, they were just words. How do you prove such a man? obviously, using the only scripture they knew.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:14-15‬ ‭KJV

And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:”Exodus‬ ‭4:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬
‭‭“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.”‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

1. So far so good! undecided

2. But wait, the verse in Hosea says Israel was a child at the time He was called out of Egypt. lipsrsealed
● The man Jacob who was later named Israel, was long dead by the time his descendants were called out of Egypt.
● His descendants had been captives in Egypt for almost 400 years by the time they were then called out of Egypt by way of Moses. They too were not children at that time even though there were children among them at that time who came out of Egypt
● The man, Moses, who was sent to call them out of Egypt at the time was at least 80 years of age at that time, so he too was not a child.

Of course, one could say the text instead means that God loved Israel when Israel was a child and then called Israel out of Israel after Israel had grown Old, but...um.... who knows?

3. Interesting! The verse you quote states that David was chosen as a firstborn and this seems to be because He was ranked highest among the kings of the earth by God. Jesus Christ was never a King of the earth.

4. Indeed there is no other God besides Him. Even Jesus Christ made this known when He proclaimed that His Father is greater than He, and He did do only the Will of His Father. Meaning He is not the Father and not equal to the Father. He is after all the Word out of the Mouth of the Father and the Father's Eternal life but not the Father's body or thoughts or mind.

That's questionable given that God loved(chose) Jacob from before he was born and not really when he was a child, Jacob(Israel) died in Egypt, and the people of Israel(Jacob) had spent over 400 years in slavery by the time God saved them from Egypt.. undecided
