Former England managers Glenn Hoddle and Sven Goran Eriksson are in Nigeria for final interviews to take over as coach of the Super Eagles.

Former Sweden coach Lars Lagerback is also being interviewed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Ex-Senegal boss Bruno Metsu and former Ghana coach Ratomir Dujkovic have already been interviewed.

"We can confidently say that the new man will be announced from these names," said the NFF's Ademola Olajire.

Nigeria have been without a coach since Shaibu Amodu was sacked shortly after his side's disappointing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Angola.

The NFF has had to move fast to find a successor to give them as much time as possible to prepare for this summer's World Cup in South Africa.

And according to the NFF, the new coach will be announced on Sunday.

"That top coaches are already here in Nigeria for an interview is a pointer to the fact that we are almost there," spokesman Olajire continued.

"Names alone cannot guarantee success so therefore the technical committee wants someone who can bring what fans, media, football house and the world expect of our team."

Three weeks ago, Nigeria named a list of preferred candidates, and since then Louis Van Gaal, Guus Hiddink and Peter Taylor have all rejected the chance to coach Nigeria.

Dutchman Hiddink last week agreed to become the coach of Turkey, taking control on 1 August upon expiry of his contract with Russia.

Meanwhile, the NFF has also confirmed that Nigeria will face the DR Congo in an international friendly on 3 March.

This will replace the planned friendly against Paraguay in London, as negotiations between the two countries failed.

Amodu, who is now overseeing the team of locally based players that will take part in the African Nations Championship, is likely to be in charge for that game with the new coach watching from the stands.
