AFCON 2013 revelation, Sunday Mba has been released by Yeni Malatyaspor of Turkey, only four years after the 28-year-old attacker became a household name in Nigerian soccer.

Mba, then with Rangers International of Enugu, shot to stardom when he scored the winner in the AFCON 2013 final against Burkina Faso in Johannesburg, South Africa, but he soon fell into a transfer row that appeared to have derailed his progress.

The attacking midfielder, who first had a transfer dispute with Warri Wolves, shocked most people when he eventually opted to join French lower league club, CA Bastia in 2014.

They were eventually relegated to the third division and this freed him to move to Malatyaspor in July 2015, and featured in key matches for the Turkish club as they won promotion to the top flight last season.

Sadly, another blight has hit his career, as Mba and compatriot, Austin Amutu have been released by the Turkish club, where Rio 2016 Olympics bronze medal winning captain, Azubuike Okechukwu is the only Nigerian player to survive the purge.

Its a shame
He should have stayed local until a good opportunity came, but I understand the need to get out of the country and get cash.

One thing that kills us here is faking ages, these whites are really know, immediately they know ur faking ur age, they look for a loophole in ur contract to boot you out.

Second is that most of these naija players do not have worldclass agents who have connect to top clubs around Europe.

The top players in Europe have top agents like riola and Mendes, these guys are just powerful when it comes to placing their clients in top clubs

You are right sir.
Age cheating has been our bane for long.
The mad rush to go abroad and sign slave contract no thanks to poverty .
Their so called agents know next to nothing on footballing matters.
