what can you do, what should you do when you're overwhelmed by a family member's illness.

it's not to say you're inconsiderate or anything but you simply don't have the time/finances/expertise to do the best that's possible for that person. and you don't want the situation to get worse.

e.g.: you might want to picture a situation where a family member has a terminal illness (can be prolonged several years or even decades, on the other hand remains terminal if very best of healthcare is not gotten) and starts to display erratic behaviour.

is there any NGO or government body to whom you can pass up a large portion of the buck?

let's keep in mind that the setting is Nigeria.
