I am here to correct an error made by one Pastor Suleman Johnson. I watched one of the videos where he spoke on divorce. He actually encouraged divorce and I cried in my heart.

I was so shocked when I watched the video. The most annoying part of it is the fact that he used the law court to support his teaching. In Christianity, it is very wrong to use the law as your basis of teaching. In Christianity, we use the Holy Bible as our basis of authority. So let us go to the Bible and correct the wrong teaching.

What has the Bible got to say concerning divorce? The first thing I would like you to know about marriage is that marriage is a covenant, a covenant between a man and his wife, and God confirms it. What I have just said now, can it be found in the Bible? Yes! In the book of Malachi 2:14, the Bible says that marriage is a covenant between you and the wife of your youth. And the Bible also says in that verse that the God is a witness in the covenant. In other words, when a man gets married, he has entered into a covenant with his wife and in that covenant, God is a witness. God confirms the covenant.

The next question is: Can a lie before a marriage dissolve the marriage covenant? The answer is no. The moment a person enters into a covenant, nothing can dissolve it. A covenant simply means an agreement. Once you enter into an agreement with someone and another person signs as a witness, then nothing can dissolve that covenant. So what I have just said, can it be found in the Bible? Yes!

In the book of Galatians 3:15, the Bible says, though it be but a man’s covenant yet if it be entered into and is confirmed, it can no longer be disannulled. The moment you enter into a covenant, it can no longer be dissolved. That is the simple truth.

The next question I would like to answer is this: is there any one that was deceived into marriage in the Bible? Let’s find out if someone like that exists and let’s find out whether the marriage was dissolved after the deceit or the marriage stayed. Somebody like that exists and his name was Jacob. Jacob was deceived into marrying Leah. He didn’t want to marry Leah. He hated Leah. He loved Rachael. He thought he was getting married to Rachael. He did not know it was Leah because Leah’s face was covered. In the morning, he realized it was Leah he got married to and there was nothing he could do about it because he was already married. He had already entered into the covenant, so he couldn’t do anything about it and the marriage stayed. It is very clear. In Christianity, we do not support people to divorce because the woman does not have a womb or because the man is impotent. That is very wrong. Rather than teaching them to divorce, it is better you pray for them. You should pray for the woman to have a new womb. You should pray for the impotent man to impregnate his wife. God is still in the business of performing miracles. He has not stopped performing miracles. Rather than asking people to divorce, pray for them and they will have their desired miracles. That is what Christianity is all about, especially if you are a man of God. You should pray for people to have their desired miracles rather than teaching them to divorce.

Do you know the extent of damage this wrong teaching has done to the kingdom, in the Christian community? Do you know how many people are planning to divorce now because of this wrong teaching?

I would like to state here that this is not a personal spite against Pastor Suleman Johnson. No! It is not at all. I don’t even know him personally. All I am doing is to correct the wrong teaching so that people are not led astray.

So why am I correcting it? Because it is a mandate from God. The next question is: Is this mandate in the Bible? Yes! It can be found in Book of 2 Timothy 4:2. In that scripture, the Bible says rebuke and correct wrong doctrines and that is exactly what I am doing. I also want to use this opportunity to sound a note of warning to others. Make sure you have understood it before going into marriage. Don’t just go into marriage if you are not sure. But if you are sure, then go ahead and get married understanding that you are not going to divorce your spouse.

And if you are married, please do not divorce your spouse because your spouse is impotent or because your spouse does not have a womb. God can give your wife a new womb. God can heal your husband if your husband is impotent. There are so many impotent people who have impregnated their wife. There are so many women who do not have womb but today God gave them new womb and they have children. There are so many like that.

Divorce is never the solution. Please don’t divorce your spouse. If Jacob was deceived into marrying Leah and that marriage stayed. The marriage was not dissolved because Jacob had already entered into the covenant. If you are already married, do not divorce your spouse. Look for solution to your problem. God will help you. Our God is a God of miracle. He will intervene and help you in the name of Jesus Christ. Don’t forget what Jesus said. He said for this reason shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they two shall be one flesh. And he said, wherefore they are no longer two but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man put asunder?

God bless you.

if you did not know, no problem, no divorce, but if you knew, and you want to tie my destiny (man or woman) with being childless, hoping to grow a new womb or testicles, you are from the devil, and you will be kicked out (divorce) The same bible says be fruitful and multiply Gen 1:28 Gen 9:7.

If you cannot be fruitful, you are going against Gods instructions tongue

I totally agree with Pastor Chris on this.. .
Teachings like this can confuse Alot of Christians. And the only way to clear this, is to make it public, it's nothing personal.
We all have our differences but God's standard is clear.. .
What does the Bible say about divorce..
Once you are married.. ....no one can separate you
It is only when one of the couple dies that the other will be free to marry
If you divorce your spouse, then you should remain unmarried
The word of God is very clear... Meanwhile
God doesn't force people to follow his word, he can punish you for not accepting him... .but he will never force you... It is with your mouth that you must confess.. ..
So for those ones, even pastors that have divorced their spouses, and have remarried.. ...all I will say is.. ..salvation is personal.... We are all answerable to God on the last day..
We are already seeing the manifestations of revelation...
Let him who has ears listen to what the Spirit is saying..
We are to preach the word of God, rescue the perishing, evangelise.. ..this is the moment we should be bold.. ..it doesn't matter how the world will condemn you.. Do not adjust the word of God to suit anyone...
If you do not know Christ yet.. ..im talking to you, who can't even remember if you know what Jesus Christ want his flowers to do.. ..this message is for you.. .
Repent of your sins, no sin is more expensive that the blood of Jesus.. .he will save you and make you whole again.. ..you need to confess those sins with Your own mouth.. .as Christ Jesus to come into your life.. .dont worry about yourself going back to your sIn.. ...Just ask him to help you.. .and he will... .AcCept Him now, tomorrow may be too late.. ..
Shalom

Op, pastor Chris saying that covenants cannot be broken is not correct.
It is only primitive world and people of some kind of traditional settings (like the Jewish culture of bible days) who lacks education thinks that covenants cannot be broken. Not this modern day were there is knowedge and understanding.
Even God set up the old covenant with Abraham and broke it, and Jesus came up with the new covenant.
So,nothing cannot be broken.
There is no problem that does not have solution.
I am not supporting divorce either, if pastor Suleman is supporting it, that is his own cup of tea.
But the reality remains that, if two people who got married suddenly realizes that they are not compatible anymore and their union is threating the life and happiness of one party (such as the man turning the woman to a punch bag or domestic violence and the woman is saying i don't want to take it any longer). Then, religion or churches should shield their fallacious teachings.
Seperate the two of them let there be happiness and protection of the life of the woman.
If the man has come back to his senses and the woman feels she is secured to stay with him once more, then they should be encouraged to reunite again.
Marriage should not be seen as a mere covenant that binds people into boundage it should be seen as agreement between two people who WANT to live happily together.
That means both of them should be committed to each other or...
Because it's a free world!!
And this one pastor Chris is quoting Malachi to say that marriage is covenant just like pastors who uses Malachi to deceive people to pay tithe .
Sometimes, i begin to wonder.
Where are we going as a nation?

Colossians 3:5
[5]Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Still searching for the masturbation.

Oops! Take a chill pill.
Sexual immorality clearly is adultery and fornication. No masturbation.

If masturbation is lust, then so is sex.
What the Bible teach as lust is wrongful desire.

For instance, you can't lust after someone you are married to. Can you?

1 Corinthians 7:2-3
[2]Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
[3]Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

Please read patiently.

Whatever you do or think that doesn't make you desire someone you aren't married to isn't lust. So, what if you masturbate with your wife in marriage (married couples do). Is it lust?

What if you masturbate casually (without lusting after anyone) to get your sperm for test? Is that too lust?

Masturbation, clearly, isn't lust. Many do it out of lusting after someone they aren't married to. In the same way, sex isn't lust, yet many have sex out of lust.

Lust is not lust except if it involves someone you aren't married to. In the same vein, masturbation as an act, is not lust. It is only done out of lust.

Don't mix things up, bro.

Pls, if you know nothing about the Bible, I'll advice you shut up. Look at the way you are telling bold lies against God.

You said God made a covenant with Abraham and the same God broke it and Jesus came up with a new covenant. Mind you, God didn't break any covenant. It is just your understanding of His covenant with Abraham that is shallow. His covenant with Abraham is that Abraham's children will be as many as the sands by the sea shore. That was fulfilled with Jesus Christ who has now made the gentiles to be part of the children of Abraham. God is not a covenant breaker, rather it is humans that do such.

Now, my explanation above shows that your stance which you are trying to use to justify divorce based on apostle suleman's false doctrine is totally flawed.

The moment you enter into a marriage, whether you were deceived or not, you can not leave such a union except the partner dies or engages in adultery. Even adultery is a last option cos you are bound to forgive the person. You can only divorce if you can't stand it. In that case, you are never to remarry. If you remarry, then you have committed adultery in the eyes of God. All other situation like domestic violence etc are no grounds for divorce, speaking from a Christian perspective. If you are not a Christian, you can disregard it all but don't stand here claiming to be a Christian while you twist the clear doctrines of the Bible.

Some will argue "do you want a woman to die due to domestic violence before you prescribe divorce?". The Bible is clear, adultery is the only reason one can leave a marriage. If you say one should leave due to domestic violence, then one can also leave due to a simple lie or poverty or any silly reason that soothes one's selfishness.

In the case of being decieved into marriage where a partner later discovers the other kept somethings hidden, you still have to remain in the union. Pray to God to help you solve the problem and not lean on your own understanding. Leaving such a marriage is breaking the covenant and also exposing yourself to committing adultery. Hod will never support any other marriage you get involved in. Leaving the union means you don't believe God can help solve the problem. This means you don't want to have anything to do with God again. Can you now see why God will not involve in any other marriage you put yourself in?

Who is this one? grin grin
First fallacy : you tell me shut up first before addressing issues. It is called attacking the personality and it shows how arrogant you are.
Secondly, when i say God broke his covenant with Abraham i simply meant God ended or cut his covenant with Abraham and established a new covenant through Jesus Christ.
Are you still doubting that?
Please interpret this parable let's see

Matthew 3:10
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn(cut) down, and cast into the fire.

What are the trees or tree?
Who has cut down the tree and why was the tree which was cut down not bringing good fruit?

You know what your problem is? You people are so religious that you keep enforcing doctrines and ancient biblical laws of the Jews even when they are not applicable to modern day reality.
Meanwhile, the same Jews who had these laws and old covenant you people are reading about in the bible today and you are throwing today christians into boundage of it, the same Jews have moved on today.
In their society like any other society they make mistakes and marry the wrong person and realizes that they have made a mistake, and made moves to change and and not remaining in boundage again live a better and happy life.
You people are here in Africa carrying religious doctrines on your head to bound incompatible people in the name of for better for worst even when the marriage is not working?
It can only happen in Africa not in educated society grin

God didn't end or cut his covenant with Abraham. Even this new explanation of yours is no different from the error you made the other time.

God fulfilled his promise or covenant to/with Abraham by giving Jesus who multiplied Abraham's seed by including the gentiles.

Can you now see why I said you should shut up? Your attempt to speak on things you know nothing about is leading to errors. Even the verse you quoted below has nothing to do with your assertion. Cos, if you say the abrahamic covenant was the tree that was cutter down cos it bore no fruit, then what do you have to say about Jesus Christ the seed that was promised to Abraham which will make the world blessed?

As explained above, the verse has no correlation with your assertion.

The law that says you must not divorce your wife unless on grounds of adultery is not a Jewish law by the law of Jesus Christ.

Jews rejected Jesus Christ who made the law that says you must not divorce your partner unless on grounds of adultery. So, Jews can do what they want. But as for we Christians, we are to follow theblaw of our master. Not opinions from people like you.

The day you begin to study and research the scriptures yourself is the day you start growing.

quote a place in the bible that say smoking weed is a sin?

From your first point, fornication, adultery are examples of INORDINATE AFFECTION or SEXUAK IMMORALITY!,,,and it encompasses other forns of sexual sins, including gay, lesbian among others.
It hit me on naked nerve when you say when a man 'wrongly desires' his wife isnt a sin. You defined lust as ''wrongful desire''. A man would rather love his wife than lust in her because lust is a root of evil. 'if your sexual desire is not guided by respect for the honor of others and regard for the holiness of God, it is lust and it is a sin. When a man lusts in his wife, he would abuse her sexually just to satisfy his wrong sexual desire.

Now permit me to discuss masturbation in marriage another day. From statistics, the highest percentage of people that masturbate are unmarried individual within d ages of 16-44yrs old. So let me limit myself to masturbation outside marriage. IS IT A SIN OR NOT?...
Now concerning masturbation for medical test. I laughed when i saw it. You made it sound as if masturbation is the best and or only way to collect semen for analysis. Bro, there 1001ways to collect semen in the clinic. You also claim 'casual masturbation'!..who does masturbate without a mental image of erotic pictures, porns or other illicit imaginations?. Even when the option of masturbation is employed in the clinic, a porn paper or mag is often giving to the individual because masturbation isnt a passive act, it is an active act which involves centres in the brain, thats why guys get addiced to it easily.

I have plenty submissions to make on this but i dont wana bore you with my epistle.

I love that part when you wrote ''any do it out of lusting after someone they aren't married to''.

Nice write up bro. i really respect your stance on this.

Thanks for that. In addition, If God had wanted us to indulge in masturbation to quench our ''burning passion'' according to 1 Corinthians7, then Paul wouldnt have suggested getting a wife or husband in order to satisfy our sexual urge. Anytime LUST is used in the Bible, it is line with Sin.
SEXUAL IMMORALITY is key in wombing lust, fornication, adultery, gay, lesbianism etc.
