10 Of The Weirdest Things You Didn’t Know Will Happen To You When You Read The Bible

The bible is the Holy Book of Christians. It serves as a guide for living and contains the mind of God concerning issues that humans face every day from love, sex, money, power, fame, social issues, life, happiness, death, marriage and many more. It is a love letter from a loving father to his children.

The bible is filled with many stories ranging from the creation story to the birth of the messiah, Jesus Christ. A story that is hard to believe in today’s world, despite its credence proven by science.

Everyone is allowed to read the bible both Christians- people living life according to the precepts of Christ, the central theme of the bible- and non Christians alike because regardless of the age of the bible, science has proven that it retains timeless truths and wisdom that everyone needs to know to live a successful and purposeful life in today’s world.

The bible is an amazing book everyone should read in their lifetime.

Here are 10 of the weirdest things you never knew about reading the bible.

1.It Inspires The Reader

The bible is a book containing detailed records and account of the lives of people that have come before us.

These people are just like us, share the same passion, emotion, desires and wants. We see their whole life spanned out in written words.
We can share their pain, learn from their mistakes and apply it in our daily lives for optimal living.

You read the account of someone passing through exactly what you are facing now and you can learn how to respond to the situation and be better equipped to live a purposeful and fulfilled life.

2.It Provides Timeless Wisdom

Every story or account in the bible is laced with wit and deep insight for the consumption of the reader.

A book called Proverbs is dedicated to the wise sayings of the wisest king that ever lived in his time. Today Proverbs as a standout book can be titled 31 Immutable Laws On Wisdom written by the foremost speaker on the issue.

You will become wiser when you read from the book of Proverbs daily, because in no time you’ll act based on what you are reading. The infallibility of the words will amaze you and you’ll make it a habit to consult it regularly.

3.It Will Read You

Many people have set out read the bible only to be startled because it read them in turn. They saw their lives clearly spelt out in scripture and mirrored back they saw their reflection in the stories of the men and women in the bible.

When you eventually open the pages of the bible to read it for yourself, you will discover that there is someone like you, something for you and an instruction to guide you.

4.It Speaks To Your Heart

There’s something about the bible that makes it different from every other book I’ve read, fiction, non-fiction, memoir etc. The others excite, inspire, entertain etc and that is about all that they do. The bible is unique in this aspect; it speaks to your soul, to your inner man.

There is a conversation between your conscience - the determiner of right or wrong- when you read the bible and this is the reason many do not read the bible. This conviction is not always pleasant and comfortable; most times it is calls for a sober reflection and a change of attitude.

5.It Provides Answers To Your Questions

Man is on a quest to find answers to the many questions that plague his mind on the daily. What are we here for? Where do we go from here? What is the purpose of this life? It there a meaning to all there is here?

The bible not only provides answers to these questions, it shows us the one who has all the answers. I have found my answers from the bible, I believe you will find yours too if you approach if with an open mind. The bible itself says ‘‘seek and you will find.”

6.It Speaks Directly To You

Not only will you discover that the bible speaks to your heart and conscience when you start reading it. You will find out that it speaks directly to you.

For instance a specific passage will pop off and it will speak contextually to you, whether it is an instruction, a warning, an advice or a comforting word.

They will speak directly to you. When you make reading the bible a habit, these weird occurrences will become frequent and then you’ll see the bible as a voice that speaks to you like a friend.

7.It Will Make You Cry

You will read stories of love, betrayal, hatred, war and peace. The recurring theme in most of the stories is the love of a God for his creation, His many acts to give this creation (you and I) a better life and build a connection for fellowship with him.

Not all the stories have a happy ending, the rebellion of this creature (you and I) against its creator will leave you stunned and the creators never ending love will shock you. If the stories don’t make you cry, then I don’t know what will.

8.It Will Make You A Better Writer

The sure way to become a writer is to read. The bible contains a lot of stories and books on poetry. As you read you will readily improve your vocabulary, your writing skills will improve.

You will be exposed to the writing techniques and stories of various writers. When you write you’ll be able to put into practice one thing or thing or two from what you’ve read thereby making you a better writer.

9.It Will Give You Hope

The bible is a book of Hope.
It provides hope for humans of a future promised by the main character Jesus Christ, the hope that all life does not end here and a hope that life is more than chasing after sex, money, power and things. It provides hope of a better tomorrow.
A hope and reality of an ideal place called Heaven.

10. It Will Boggle You
When you read stories in the bible many of them will question reality and defy the norm. Matter of fact they will boggle you. The story of a man mining faster than a chariot, the dead coming back to life, water turned to wine, a man walking on water and many more stories.

The bible is interesting and filled with uniquely strange stories that will keep you wanting for more

Happy Sunday Nairalanders.
