Party Leaders ‘ban’ Tinubu From Ogun by stormm: 8:07am On Mar 03, 2010
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP}, Ogun State Chapter yesterday issued a warning to the former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu urging him to keep off from the state and its environs in the interest of peace in the South-West.

The party gave the warning through its Elders Consultative Forum in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting, held at the home of the Chairman, Okanlawon Soboyejo.

Reading out the communiqué to journalists, Mr. Soboyejo said the resolution to ban Mr. Tinubu from visiting the state was reached after the meeting deliberated on his {Tinubu} utterances during the recent burial of late politician, Dipo Dina in Ijebu-Ode.

The PDP boss said he recalled that at the burial, Mr Tinubu was quoted to have publicly said that Ogun State would soon be liberated, a statement the forum ‘considered as misguided utterances and least expected from him.’ Intolerable comments

The communiqué of the PDP elders, which was read by, the forum’s secretary, Yomi Akinwonmi, said ‘the council frowned at the public statement made by Bola Tinubu in which he said Ogun State will soon be liberated.

“To the council, this misguided utterances is least expected from a former governor of a state in enlightened South-West region of Nigeria.” The party leaders said they would not tolerate such statements.

“The council therefore warned that Bola Tinubu should henceforth confine his thuggery tendencies to Lagos State as future occurrence of such unprogressive act will be repelled,” the PDP said.

The forum also said it passed a vote of confidence on the Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, whom they said has done well for the state. “His foray into the political landscape of Ogun State has presented many unprecedented successes,” the group said.

Mr Dina, a former governorship candidate of the Action Congress in Ogun State was murdered last month in circumstances that are still unclear. Mr Tinubu is a national leader of the Action Congress.

When did PDP become a law enforcement agency?

in intelligent overview would see this as an act of desperation.

the 'cult of fashola' building in nigeria,he general tiredness of nigerians of pdp and the strengthening democratic institutions all spell doom for the PDP.

People are tired of the old order and a new nigeria is raising, Tinubu and his party due to affiliation with Fashola, and his own work, are the biggest threat to PDP's existence. This is why they're taking his threat to 'liberate' Ogun very seriously.

an an igbo i've come to find yoruba politics are among the most dangerous in nigeria.

So partymen can now set margin's for people's movement within the country? what an impish utterance. . . . . Well I remember  some years back  even Tinubu lawlessly  said something similar to Fayose after thugs harassed him in Ekiti . . . . . .Lawlessness begets lawlessness.

PDP has started losing stamina in Ogun. May it spread to all the other joints across the country,Amin.
What we need now is a very alert anti-doping machinery and this is only possible through
genuine electoral reform.

PDP has started losing stamina in Ogun.

Its not only in Ogun that PDP is loosing stamina but in the whole nation, the issue of Yar Adua, I believe, is the last straw that'll break PDP's back.

My broda , as much as I do hate PDP, it is evident that the other parties are not fundamentally different.

Secondly the other parties do not have the kind of structure and spread that PDP enjoys, hence the opposition will seemingly be swimming against the tide to make any impact.

I disagree with u. U saw that of Anambra, u saw that of Edo and Ondo. What do yu expect from Oyo in 2010? what about the pending Osun and Ekiti. We all know PDP are on the verge of total destruction and collapse because thier root is fool of evil and it can't rein for too long a time. We are all waiting!

Anambra is not a threat to PDP. any state won by regional party is not a threat to PDP. It means PDP will always win the center. If AC had won anambra, it could have been more threat because of the geographical spread lagos SW edo SS anambra SE and may give AC a national outlook.

But still, as much as wrestling power from PDP may be a desirable change, it doesn't guarantee better government. Our problems are much more fundamental than that. the internal division is too much and this is a very good avenue for the elites to operate.

Remember we have been shouting bad government since military days and we did not stop under OBJ.

For Edo and Ondo, it was the overwhelming popularity of Adams and Mimiko that saw them suceed, which is different from the scenario you seem to be painting that people voted against PDP. For Anambra we all know that there are a lot of questions to ask ,,  ,  . . . . .  We all seem to want to condone irregularities in elections provided it is not PDP that benefits from such.  Akala should loose to any credible candidate , if the opposition pays attention to the structure of Oyo politics.

What am I saying? The elections and voting should be based on the strength and "credibility" of the candidates and not necessarily because  we want to vote PDP out.

Sullivan Chime is a PDP governor, without any form of rigging, everyone knows how thorny the path will be for any opposition candidate to defaet him. Theodore Orji is of the PPA and we all know that a not- too-impressive PDP candidate would give  him a tough fight in the next election. why? because of performance.

Ohakim won the elections as a PPA candidate and we were quick to celebrate the spread of power accross different party lines , though he has moved to PDP , we all hear the different allegations against him. Is it becuase he is in PDP ? Definitely not but becuase of his person.

With the performance of fashola in lagos  one would ordinarily expect the he is free from the arm twisting antics of political Godfathers as is common in PDP, but NO , Tinubu would not allow him breathe.

Is Tinubu a PDP man? Or the fact that he  is of the opposition means we can overlook  or applaud his greedy/selfish agenda?

In Edo state today , people are decamping from PDP to AC, is it based on political ideology or mere greed? If Oshiomole looses next election all these people will return.

I would ordinarily want  PDP to implode as that will open up the political space, but please lets drop the philosophy of celebrating evil/mediocrity provided it is anti-PDP.
