My UBA Story by Nobody: 8:10pm On Sep 25, 2017
So today my eldest sister asked me to help her get some drugs from the pharmacy after work today, as fate would have it, I was with only my UBA ATM card today, I stopped using UBA over two months ago because of their penchant for deducting your money without telling you why. So i asked my sister to send the money to my UBA account which she did. To cut the long story short, she sent me 5k for the drugs, immediately the money entered I received the first alert of 5,500 (my minimum balance is 500). Subsequently I received 3 debit alerts for ATM maintenance fee of 52 naira each for the month of AUGUST (3 alerts for one month) I quickly mailed them askin them why they would charge me ATM maintenace fee thrice for only August. The customer care office by the name 'Ife' replied me that it is statutory according to CBN, that it is normal, I decide to swallow it afterall na me find trouble carry only UBA card.
Finally I said let me use POS to pay and complete the balance with my own money, the drug was #4800 but to my greates surprise I was having insufficient balance. I went to sterling to check my balance and I saw 4970 balance, I quickly withdrew 4000 to avoid more stories.
My dear nairalanders, it is not as if this money is too much but my problem is that Money was debited from my account without UBA telling me why and also charging me three times for one purpose
Below are the screen shots of the transaction.

UBA has one of the top 3 worst customer care services. why cant customers be pre informed? just deducting upandan and calling cbn this, cbn that. meanwhile ACCESS have stepped up.

OP, point of correction: no amount of money is too small. N1 deducted from one million accounts is significant. I can complain about N1 undue deduction, if I have the time.

These banks can be so frustrating.

I expirenced same thing over the weekend. And on Monday, they successfully made the ATM maintance charge four good times on my account.
The bank is so useless.

They later told me that I have three active ATM linked to the same account, meanwhile when I went to replace my lost card I asked the customer care officer to block the lost card she said that as soon as I'm issued a new one that the old one will be automatically blocked.
Talk of incompetence talk of UBA

Out of 1000 transactions, 999 go well and 1 goes bad. You will never hear about the 999 that went well, you will only hear that single one that went bad.

Is this d first transaction u had with them, the rest transactions that went well, why didn't u come and post them on Nairaland.

OP, they told u it is CBN directive, so vent ur anger toward CBN and not d bank. By the way, did they force u to open account with UBA or did they tie u there. If u don't like there services, close ur account and move somewhere else. If u don't like any Nigerian bank, then establish ur own bank and then u can start flouting CBN directives for ur customer, Rubbish.

UBA is a bank that "if you leave 1M naira today in your account and travel for a year ,when you check that account if you see up to 800k thank your stars . They have one of the highest charges (both hidden amd visible ) in the banking sector.
