A woman has lost her life after she reportedly bought some herbal drugs on Facebook she had thought would help lighten her skin.

A Thai woman from Prae died after taking supplements sold online that were advertised as a way to get white skin and enhance breast size. But she developed kidney disease and died in her own bathroom before help could reach her.

Relatives who had arranged her 35th birthday party celebration on Friday were concerned when she didn't show. On Sunday they took her cake to present to her at her funeral, reported Kapook.

Wijitra Jantaphrom or Waew started taking the "herbal" supplements in capsules some months ago and initial results looked promising as her complexion improved.

She took medicine and it reacted,any drug can react ..be it herbal or orthodox. That is why we should look out for strange symptoms while using medications. I took one anti malaria drug (quartem) given to me at the hospital and almost died,since then if I see any yellow tab in their hospital pack I ensure its not that drug that almost killed me...I simply relate my experience and tell them I can't take it. I also had a terrible reaction with one prednisolone tab ,my face came out looking like this deceased lady and the medication was given to me at Luth.....We just have to be careful ,sometimes we buy meds open the pack and just throw the leaflet and the pack away without going through the necessary drug info(Interactions,contra-indication,warnings etc) ...on most of these drugs its boldly written "In case of any reaction while using this drug,discontinue its use and consult your physician"...but majority don't just pay attention
