Egypt’s President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi has given a bonus of N31,450,000 ($85,000) to each of the players that helped the country qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia. BBC Reports.

Liverpool’s attacker, Mohamed Salah converted a penalty in injury time to hand the Pharos a 2-1 win over Congo in Brazzaville.

Egypt’s world cup qualification is their first since 1990.

The president announced the reward on Monday as he met the Argentine coach Hector Cuper and the players.

“Maybe we don’t play beautiful football but we are at the World cup and that’s the most important thing,” Cuper said.

Al-Sisi also poured encomium on the match-winner Mohamed Salah.

“I am proud of all the players but especially of Mo Salah who was brave enough to take the crucial penalty,” the president said.

“Also thank you to coach Cuper who has made our dreams come true.”

Liverpool forward Salah was already looking ahead to Russia.

“We are determined to make the country and continent proud in Russia,” Salah said.

“I am very happy to lead Egypt to a World Cup after 28 years and to make a 100 million proud of us.”

The Pharaohs have won a record seven Africa Cup of Nations titles but have only been to the World Cup twice in 1934 and 1990 and are yet to win a game at the finals.

if the Nigerian govt were the ones to do that, folks will attack them, calculating that 31.8×20players is 620+million, money that is enough to carry out infrastructural development. coupling with the fact that this is just a world cup qualification and not winning the world cup.

it's not money that will make African Countries to win the world cup, go and see from those who have won before. rather its your capabilities to field the next players, and to coach them well, even if you entice players with 1bn each, once they come up against a better team, they will simply be outclassed.

don't waste resources on irrelevant things, give it on winning the world cup, not for qualifying.
