Kia Rio 2008 Model And Timing Belt Confusion by Akintajuwa: 8:18am On Oct 11, 2017
My auto gurus in the house please help me.

I bought this Kia Rio 2008 model tear rubber in 2008 and have not had any issues with it until August this year, 2017.

My timing belt gave way on motion and being the first time its happening to me i never knew it was the timing belt, hence was rolling the engine without success. Mechanic checked and was told timing belt is cut off, nine out of about thirteen valves destroyed, gasket destroyed.

Fast forward, car was repaired but engine oil light permanently on and serious noise in the engine compartment, although the car accelerates normally. Mechanic said the permanent oil light is because of low oil pressure after the oil pumped has been serviced and this is the reason for the engine noise.

To eliminate this noise and the engine oil light, i need to buy (1) A new oil pump (2) cut new rings (3) buy new valve seals (4) buy new pistons, etc. all totaling about N70,000.

All this for a car that the engine has never been worked on?

Help my people, does he want to kill me? Please help with advice and suggestions!!!

See attached picture of the car.

mech killed ur engine. You would have bought a toks top cylinder and new timing belt.

Engine might still be salvageable, get a 2nd opinion.

Your engine is relatively not too expensive and can be replaced with a low mileage one.

Oga Gazzuzz and Mayor, thanks for the advice; they are most appreciated.

You said my engine might still be salvageable; how is this possible? What is the process to achieve this and at what cost?

How much is it to get an outright new engine and where are the competent Kia trained mechanics here around Akute, Ojodu and Alagbole?
