I do actually spend my time productively and those that know me will attest to that. No body is attacking the bible as you will love to believe, I know how it feels, Once the fallacy of what you hold dear is exposed you call it an attack but the the same hypocrite that you are will not hesitate to tell the moslem that he is not attacking them but pointing out the obvious fallacies in the koran. grin. What a funny person you are.

It didnt take too long . . . yawn

why do you care? Do you also tell them Zeus is a myth with this much zeal, hate and condescension?

No body comes here talking about Zeus and hiding behind the mythical tale of zeus to display his hate and bigotry.

which hate? which bigotry? and which disdain? From who to who? when and where? Or you folks just dream this up to justify your own internal problems in dealing with your "myths"?

For those that do not share your delusions. You can deny it all you want but your post and those of others like you are there for all to read.

you must have me confused with someone else.

You have said it so many times that you hate atheist, You even have a thread tittled "I hate atheist". The search engine is so messed up right now but I wish Huxley was here to dig it up and produce it. Its funny how your hate filled memory easily forgets things.

this is the third time i am asking for examples of this "hate" and "bigotry" (get the spelling right).

really? and our posts on politics too are reflective of this "hate" and "bigotry"?

1. I never said such.

2. I never had such a thread.

you seem to have a problem with honesty.

Anything else you want to blame on "hate" and "bigotary" (sic)?

Nah . . . many of you do not deserve a debate (obviously what you seek). Its better to treat your rants for the nonsensical, ill-thought drivel they really are. For folks who pride themselves so much on being "educated" or "smart" (as an excuse for atheism) . . . its rarely ever on display.

oh and i found an example of what you call "hate" and "bigotary" (sic) . . . https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-410860.0.html

go rant there.

You think I have time pandering to your delusions? Keep on asking me.Re-read your posts yourself and you will see them staring at you right in your face.

really? and our posts on politics too are reflective of this "hate" and "bigotry"?

Of course they are, Are you not the same person that is always advocating for the seperation of Nigeria? SOLEY because those of them that live in the north do not share your "faith" and delusions. I know that the hate is mutual on both sides but you in particular keep hiding under your various delusions to keep ex-acerbating the situation and justifying you hate and bigotry.

1. I never said such.

You have said that so many times, I don't have time digging up anything for now.

2. I never had such a thread.

You do, when huxley comes he will help with that, I don't have time digging up things because the search engine is a total mess right now.

you seem to have a problem with honesty.

NO, the person that does not even know what honesty is, is you.

Anything else you want to blame on "hate" and "bigotary" (sic)?

I laugh, Imagine an epitome of hate and bigotry like davidylan trying to ridicule another person. grin

Our "rants" are nonsensical and ill thought drivels yet you spend hours on end debating us no? grin. You are truly a very confused person. The actual problem is not that any of us here on NL has ever claimed that we are more intelligent that any theist. The problem is you and what you know. Your cognitive dissonance is so much troubling you that you find it hard to take when others simply point out to the myths and falsehoods that you hold so dear because it makes no sense even to you. The same method and approach you use in dispelling the mythical beliefs of others based on what you know, is the same method we use on you. That knowledge alone is what scares you into thinking that we claim to be more intelligent. Its not about intelligence, You are the person that is fighting yourself by always having to patch up your mythical beliefs with what you know to be true. grin grin

which of the gospels do u subscribe to and why?

It depends on what u mean by subscribe.

1st of all I don't think the Gospel authors (John aside) are fraudulent people. I think they were sincere people of faith. BUT
2nd I do not think the Gospel authors were historians seeking to give us a historically accurate account of the life of Jesus.

I think the three synoptic gospels try to tell us about Jesus as understood by their individual authors, who were obviously believers. But when u read all three of them one starts to notice that Jesus was understood differently and presented differently by each of them. SO it's about trying to find out how each of their understandings shaped their stories. . .since we are pretty sure they used some of the same sources, and in some parts they are similar word for word, we can start to sort out  what may be the author's coloring of the story of jesus. Not sure how much sense that makes but I'm trying to avoid doing the hard work.  tongue

In other words, the three synoptics are used in scholarship of the historical Jesus. . . Even the most conservative of conservative scholars struggle to make a case for the historicity of the events described in the Gospel of John. The likelihood of those words having been spoken by a peasant, illiterate Jew is extremely low.

prayer is nothing but superstition. Why don't you open your mind, try to understand and reason why we don't believe in your imaginary god. We don't give a toss about you feeling sorry for us. You who believe in fairytales should feel sorry for yourself.

1. using the gospels IMO to construct the historical Jesus is like attempting to squeeze water from a rock. The gospels were written for spiritual purposes to strengthen BELIEVERS and NOT for some unsaved scholars to analyse for historical profiteering.

2. from the above I can deduce that u do actually subscribe to the notion of Jesus divinity and ontology based on ur admission to being able to construct the "real" Jesus. why then do u reject His gift of salvation? how rational is ur choice? are u aware of the imminent consequences?

haha. I did not evade them, I just dodged them  grin

oya na answer be dis. Nothing I say must be used against me in the court of law

1) I don't think Jesus died to wash away sins or save souls or anything like that. I also strongly doubt Jesus believed any such thing about himself. That is why is "refuse" Salvation.

2) I think it is a rational choice because I have honestly spent lots of time thinking this through and examining a lot of the evidence critically. I also won't believe something that goes against everything that I have experienced with my own senses and reason, just because some book says Jesus wants me to.

3) fear of punishment has never altered my behaviour. If Im wrong then I guess I'll fry. I'm sure u guys in heaven will put in a good word for me. Dem fit gree me enter on probation   grin

typical toneyb . .  .bring up innuendos and opinions and passing them as facts.

See, Kettle calling the pot black. The Christian "faith" you subcribe to is NOTHING but opinions, wishful thoughts and imaginations of others like you.

1. That u choose to call the bible a book of myths does not make it so. that u deny the ontology of Christ and the existence of hell. . .does not make u right considering the fact that u have no evidence to support your claims.

The bible contains a lot of myths, So many Christians themselves acknowledge that FACT, But unlike me they chose to sugar coat it and say that those mythical stuffs are allegorical tales or narratives. What exactly is hell? Christians are still struggling to understand and accept what it truly mean. Hell is CLEARLY an imaginary place and a very cleverly constructed myth used to make people believe and accept what the advocate of what ever religion what them to accept. Believe in my lies or rot in hell grin grin.

2. its amazing that u choose to insult the intelligence of a billion people who attest to the faithfulness of Jehovah God. how do u explain the faith the believers expressed in God that birthed their miracles?

What has numbers go to do with it? Don't you also insult the intelligence of over a billion Muslims for accepting the mythical narratives of Islam? Believers express faith in what ever concept of god they have been conditioned and indoctrinated with because years of indoctrination and culture is not easy to throw away and hence becomes their reality.

3. by relating xtianity to parental teachings u obviously missed the point. since your parents taught u the same xtian teachings and u are today an atheist by your own making. . . how then do u explain the hundreds of millions of others who remain xtians by rational decisions just like urs?

People have various reasons for believing or holding unto myths. Just look around you, there are about a billion Hindus, over a billion Muslims, hundred of million of Buddhist, etc all clinging to one form of man made mythology or the other from childhood till they die. People do NOT believe in the religions they were indoctrinated with since childhood because it makes any sense, they do so mostly because of conditioning, societal acceptance and the make belief that it is their reality.

uhmn . . . . .I just hope that next time xtians come up with dogmatic positions and hide under the cloud of "I think or dont think". . .u dont call us confused and clueless grin All u have done here is to form an opinion based on sentiments and emotional affiliations and NOT of reason or evidence or facts.

grin what u choose to call imaginations and wishful thoughts are actually prophecies and words of revelations. the fact that u know several scriptures like the back of ur palm does not mean this was always the case. .  . ,  . the scripture u discard today was inspired and was NOT understood by the writers. .  . .simply cos twas above their knowledge.

The bible contains a lot of myths, So many Christians themselves acknowledge that FACT, But unlike me they chose to sugar coat it and say that those mythical stuffs are allegorical tales or narratives. grin I laugh with u.
how I wish u were right . . . ,  .if u can honestly acknowledge the intelligence behind the order of the universe. ,  u can also acknowledge the intelligence of a universal creator. if u can fathom this. . . . it would be easy for u to understand that perhaps there is more to life that what we presently see, feel and live in.

I knew u were going to bring up the muslims argument. . .  . . . . but thats not the issue. . ,  .  .the issue is that how can u dismiss the incessant faith of a billion people?. . .if the God to whom they showcase their faith does not reward them. . .would they not be a bunch of fools?. .  , but alas thats NOT the case.

while u are to a little extent right. .  u still CANNOT explain the rationality of those who consciously without compulsion accepted the xtian faith. . ,  .someone like myself.
