As the word has said that we should ask and when we do, it will be given to us (Matthew 7:7), but some complain that when they ask from God in prayer they don’t seem to get response. There are several reasons why some may not get answers from God when they pray and I will be giving out some of these reasons.

God through His word has told us that the prayer of a sinner is an abomination to Him but the prayer of the righteous is His delight (Proverbs 15:8; Proverbs 28:9). What that means is that sin will always be an hindrance in getting our prayers answered by God. The solution to this is to have and maintain a clear and clean conscience before God who knows the inner thoughts of every man (Job 34:21; Psalm 139:7-8; John 2:25).

To have a clear conscience before God, you need to repent of your sins by prayer of repentance and confession asking Jesus to cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) . When cleansed by the blood of Jesus, there will therefore be no condemnation in you anymore (Romans 8:1) and whatsoever you ask and in the name of Jesus and you believe you have receive, you will get it ( 1 John 3:21-22; Mark 11:24 ).

Another reason why we may ask from God and get not reply from Him is because we ask for our own selfish desire and gain and not for the benefit of others or for the glory of God and the benefit of His kingdom (James 4:3; Proverbs 1:28).

James 4:3 KJV :“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”

When you ask from God in prayer, have good intentions in your heart and how it can be of benefit to others and the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Praying the word of God back to God will also help. When you pray, try to quote the scriptures in your prayers. The word of God is God’s word. God understands all languages but praying in His own word, I believe, will make Him listen: just as anyone would love to listen from anyone what he or she had already spoken.

Pray with the whole of your heart and don’t be ignorant of the devil’s devices like distractions from man or object like ringing noise from a phone when you pray but be focus (2 Corinthians 2:11).

Finally brethren, ask God for wisdom in prayer to teach you how to pray (Luke 11:1) and to give you wisdom who He gives liberally to all who ask that you might grow in your prayer life, in service and in all areas of Christian living (James 1:5).
