To be naturally healthy is not as easy as it sounds. There are many natural obstacles that could easily break your progress.

In fact, some of these obstacles are so obstinate in their resolve to hold you back that taking the first step towards a naturally healthy lifestyle is almost impossible.

The numbers of naturally healthy people in the world today are so large that they form the minority.

That fact alone should tell you of how difficult (not impossible) the quest to maintain a healthy lifestyle following a natural course really is.

On this post we shall be talking about some points. Points pointing to the reasons why being naturally healthy is not for everyone even though it should.

1. It Is Very Expensive
The lifestyle is not easy to maintain, financially speaking. It takes a consistent flow of finance to keep that naturally healthy regime on point.

In Nigeria today a lot of people can hardly even afford 100 naira a day without begging.

A dollar a day for a lot of them is impossible because of the poverty that has become the system itself.

A dollar is now between 300 to 400 naira. With scarce amount of job listings in the country, eating healthy meals is an impossible dream to many.

Thus, being naturally healthy is not for the poor. Of course there are poor people we are farmers and can afford to eat natural healthy foods directly from their hard work. But the numbers of farmers in Nigeria is reducing with each passing day.

Even for those few who can afford to eat healthy foods from their farm produce, there are still other factors militating against this advantage.

Poverty is therefore a strong factor. An hurdle that is desperate to keep a lot of people behind the healthy living divide.
Being naturally healthy is a lifestyle and like every other kind of lifestyle, it takes money to maintain.

2. It Cannot Work Without Proper Amount Of Sleeping Hours.
Naturally Healthy People all have a well planned sleep routine. It is that aspect of their life that is guided and measured by the hours.

There is a time to go to bed and there is a required amount that process is suppose to last.

Anything shorter than 8 hours sleep at night and half or a full hour of sleep midday is considered unhealthy and not everyone can afford this sleep pattern.

A lot of people work shift. Which means most nights of the week they are awake when they should be asleep.

And when they return home after a night of sleeplessness, they are unable to sleep due to one issue or the other, like noise, excessive daylight penetration.

Not sleeping enough is same as
sleep deprivation which can eventually lead to
1. Impaired Brain Activity
2. Cognitive Dysfunction
3. Depression
4. Moodiness
5. Cold and Flu
6. Type 2 Diabetes
7. Heart Disease
8. Height Blood Pressure
9. Weight Gain
0. Memory Problems
1. Hallucinations
2. Micro Sleep
3. Accidental Death
4. Yawning
5. Weakened Immune Response


Now with all that, you now know why sleep is important to the lifestyle and why those not having enough of it can’t be part of the naturally healthy community.

3. More Of Raw Foods
Not everybody can eat their foods raw. Now don’t you freak out!

By raw I meant fresh. Is there really any difference?

Anyways, this set of people eat more of raw organic meals than cooked meals.
In other words they are almost existing on the vegetarian plain. The only difference is that they every now and then come back to cooked foods.

Not everyone can live like this, to break free from the accepted norm of cooking every food that finds their way into our guts.
I once overheard someone say “eating just fruits and vegetables is no food at all”.
If you are like him, you would think the same. The truth is, for some people it is hard to adjust when it comes to their meals.

They just can make adjustment for something new, no matter how healthy.
The first time i tried going than that path, I ate just fruits and vegetables for more than two months in a stretch.

It was an adventure but one that is not meant for everyone. Because not everyone can just drop off their meats, rice and milk as if it is nothing without mentally and physically suffering for it.

So, if you fall into that category, I promise you that the naturally healthy lifestyle is definitely not for you.

4. Intermittent Fasting Is Part And Parcel Of The Lifestyle
Hope intermittent fasting as a concept as well as a practice is not at all strange to you.

Because if that is the case then you just might not like it.

Intermittent fasting is a process wherein you fast for, let’s say 16 hours then eat all you want during the remaining 8 hours of the day.

For instance, you stop eating by 8pm until 12 the next day noon. Then from that 12noon you can eat as you want (healthy foods), which then ends by 8pm.

And again the process is restarted. During the fast period, you are not allowed to take in liquids with sugars or calories but water is allowed.

I dont see a lot of people keeping to this rule but then it’s just one of the lifestyle habit I think other healthy living tips can compensate for.

But the truth still remains, fasting is really good for our body and any serious minded person that wants to go down the naturally healthy people’s path, must embrace this culture and see it as a necessity.

Of course you can tweak it to a level that you are comfortable with.
There different intermittent fasting methods out there. Just pick what works better for your body system.

5. A NO NO To Red Meat
Even though fruits and vegetables are the main bulk of their meal. Meat eating is still allowed with rules attached to the type and quantity.

Red meat is a no no and its all for a naturally healthy reason.
Red meat can cause some serious damage to your body. From infections to stroke, you name it.

Thus going down this path means no more steaks for you and that is a trade off a lot of persons will never make.

But it is not as bad as it sounds because in it’s place, should come the white meat alternative.

Don’t tell me you don’t love chicken!
With white meat you can still get the proteins you need as well as that tastiness on you palates.

But even with the white meat comes the issue of quantity. You are not suppose to overindulge.

There will be no chicken thighs, one after the other, falling onto your dish.

So first, you forfeit the red meat and then eat the white meat measured by a size most people might never find friendly.

6. Food Is Medicine
You must have heard about the phrase “make food thy medicine and medicine thy food”.

That is generally how it goes down with this set of healthy people. What they eat, when they eat must serve a health purpose or fulfil a health requirement.

Nothing is eaten without its quality known. Foods are investigated and well researched before brought to the dining table.

Another aspect to this area of their lifestyles, is that foods are experimented upon.

Once news of that and that plant makes headline. Naturally Healthy People immediately sets off, to experiment with it.
Seeking to experience for themselves the nutritional truth of the food.

It doesn’t matter the taste or texture. What matters is the health value.
Not everyone can stomach a lunch at the naturally healthy people’s club mixed with some exotic mushrooms from the hills of Tibet.

7. Meditaion
They are all about health and that involves not just the body but the mind as well.
And here comes the practice of silence. By which I mean meditation.

This is a core part of the whole be healthy practice and if you can’t get yourself to this point, then you are not completely into the practice yet.

Meditation is compulsory. Along with the other steps already mentioned. You are expected to follow this route as well.
When the mind is off balance, the body would suffer and that means you are not at all synchronized to the naturally healthy wavelength.

If you cant meditate or learn to, then this is not for you.

8. Sugar Removal
As to be expected. Sugar use is banned, whether directly or indirectly.
Which means, you are not expected to even drink soft drinks. Every and any sugar content is a no go area.

Honey is allowed because it is natural and medicinal. Just make sure you buy the original that has not been mixed with brown sugar or sugarcane water.

9. No Alcohol
Yep! No alcoholic drinks for you. But you already know that alcohol is bad for your health.

In case you dont, them allow these facts to guide you.

Malnutrition
Hard on the Heart

Those are just some of the side effects of alcohol indulgence.

The issue here is too much strong alcohol. There are days when one or two shots can actually be helpful.

But overindulgence is not at all healthy and is not part of being naturally healthy.

10. No Smoking
Those burning sticks must go. Like alcohol, smoking is very very bad for your health.
It’s a man’s worse enemy when it comes to his heart healt and penis length.

Increased risk of stroke and brain damage.
Eye cataracts, macular degeneration, yellowing of whites of eyes.

Loss of sense of smell and taste.
Yellow teeth, tooth decay and bad breath.
Cancer of the nose, lip, tongue and mouth.
To be become naturally healthy you must drop this habit. And that is just that crux of the matter.

11. Water Is No.1
Water is considered the most healthy fluid there is in this world. It would do your body a mighty good.

It will help you flush out toxins, keep you hydrated and your skin will surely be grateful for it.

12. Exercise Is A Must
For them exercise is a religious event. It is not to be joked with. You plan for it like it’s your birthday and go through with almost equal excitement.

When it comes to exercises, it is wise to go for compound exercises as well as aerobics.

But if you are just too lazy to even fix the simplest exercise schedules and be able to follow through, then this lifestyle is not for you.

13. More Of Complex Carbohydrates
You hear me right. No love for simple carbs on your diet. Instead when it comes to carbs, complex carbs it is all the way.

You will have to make lots of substitutions.
Like no white breads, instead whole fruit bread. No white rice and other massively processed foods.

I know many who can’t do without White rice. And I know this is not for them.

Summary
In summary, the ugly truth when it comes to being naturally healthy is that every habit that is unhealthy must be discarded.
Your life becomes an open book of naturally healthy tips.
