I wish we have more governors that think like this. We need qualified and responsible teachers in Nigeria to help the growing children.

Same thing was done in Oyo state. This is an ugly development. El Rufai must get to the root of this matter.

At the end of the day, the students pay dearly for it. They are now paying for Ajumose Bus.

Even secondary students now protest on the street , where are we going as a nation

If they are well informed on the purpose of their protest, what is wrong with that?

This is the best decision from the Governor, some people might be affected today but the whole country would benefit from it later. When you give sound education to a child, he/she becomes light in the future. thuggery, insurgency, robbery, religion fanatics and other vices would reduce drastically because they would be more enlightened.

I wonder why some people would be defending the poor teachers who can't pass pry 4 exams. How do they reason? What's their point? How can a qualified teacher who passed through pry, secondary and tertiary institutions fail such test? No no no. We need to wake up and start doing things right.

Educational sector in this country needs total overhaul

It is a pity Fayemi tried such in his state known as "fountain of knowledge" but the teachers who believe a pupil must pass their exams before going to next class moved against it.

Some Nigerians are lazy and not productive and all they do is to sit down expecting allocation.

What sort of stupid protest makes pupils lie on the streets for the interest of others or for any reason at all.Other people's children for that matter

It violates the rules of engagement even in war.The perpetuates must be found and given harsh sentences as precedence.

but the statement is correct.the background story is the pupils were lying on the streets in protest.Their limbs and their lives were endangered by the people that were to protect them

For the first time that Nasir Rl-Rufai has earned praise from me. The basic education level of education in all states of the Federation need a complete overhaul in personnel and human resources management, salary structure and consistency, standard of education and curriculum, and physical assets management for improved service delivery and proper investments in future of the state.
Akwa Ibom State governor Udom should come and see the responsibility shown by his counterpart in tackling decay in the educational sector instead of helping to further destroy it with his useless politicking and nonpartisan approach to crucial issues in education!
#signingout
But come over to kaduna state and see how people are playing politics with this issue. Some claim elrufai is doing this to attack Christian teachers while many muslim teachers failed the exams too. Most of the people criticising this move will not send their children 5o these public schools.

Don't just take a news on the face content alone when has 75 percent being a cutoff mark, 90 percent of the teachers scored 60 percent.

No mistake there, Limbs was actually what the handler intended writing and that's correct in respect to the pupils laying down on the road.

The Nigerian union of teachers had an agreement with el-rufai, that the competency test pass mark will be 60%. but after the test, the governor decided to change the pass mark to 75%. this is quite unfair. I support the decision of NUT to embark on the warning strike. But!!!!!! In as much as I feel for the sacked teachers, I equally frown at the use of children between the ages of 5 and 10yrs to protest on major roads around the state. the NUT and other supporting groups should look for other alternatives than using these children.
