Yesterday, the police in Ikom LGA, central Cross River state revealed that five kidnappers who abducted a supermarket owner, Mrs Asimco, last Saturday and took her deep into the forest and demanded ransom - were killed after a gun duel in a forest. According to police reports, security operatives traced the hoodlums to a forest in Ikom and killed the kidnappers after engaging them in a gun duel.

But multiple reports from journalists, activists and Cross River citizens claim otherwise as they say the kidnappers were successfully arrested and killed at the police station before they were paraded before journalists.... without any form of prosecution...

Pictures have been provided by citizens to back the theory up as they have accused the Cross River police of extra-judicial killings.

They were killed only because some policemen were implicated. They were killed to protect those policemen.

This is very bad.
Its not impossible that some or one of them might be victims of circumstances, being at d wrong place at d wrong time.
This could also be an attempt to cover up other highly placed individuals involved.

This is so wrong... Only corrupt police officers go this far probably to cover their own tracks. Their confessions might link back to the police officers.

There is more to the killing than we could anticipate. Most kidnapping are organized and supported by the police, if not, what should make the police kill them when already in custody?
NPF is a joke.

The were NOT victims of circumstances... BUT this is outright MURDER by the police in Cross River. Even if the sentence for kidnapping is the death penalty in some states, it still does NOT give them the right to execute them after they were captured.

My analysis. While they were in the business of kidnapping they consistently got help from high ranking police officers. The small boys police officers did not know about this, they went after them genuinely, arrested them, and their bosses organized an inside job the have the kidnappers eliminated to cover up a possible exposure. Nigeria is such a lawless Nation, I refuse to weep for her.
