The Honourable Minister,
Federal Ministry of Education,
Federal Secretariat,
FCT-Abuja

Sir,
THE DEMYSTIFICATION OF AUCHI POLYTECYHNIC GOVERNING
COUNCIL CHAIRMAN, CHIEF MICHAEL OLARENWAJU OLOYO – A
ROUND PEG IN A SQUARE HOLE

Introduction;

An online publication dated 25 th October, 2017 concerning the state of
Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo Sate, especially the aspect which captures
the notorious Chief Michael O. Oloyo’s antecedents and dexterity in
causing feud everywhere he went, including in his home town and
immediate family, is what has compelled me into contributing this piece as
a way of sympathizing with the staff and students of the institution.
The author of that publication did not fully demystify Oloyo, hence the
need for me to out of pains and anguish, lend credence to the author by
giving this detailed blow by blow account of him, while coloborating the
murder aspect in the publication.

HIS OSTRACIZATION FROM IMOGAH (HIS HOMETOWN) FOLLOWING
THE KILLING OF THREE (3) YOUNG MEN

Overwhelming evidence and straight records abound that Chief
Michael O. Oloyo was ostracized from his hometown, Imogah in Akoko-Edo

Local Government Area of Edo State, following the killing of three (3)
brothers.
He thereafter intimidated and arrested the family members under
thugs wherein they were forced to write an undertaken/statement that the
three (3) murdered young men were thieves. He only succeeded in
savouring the euphoria of this orchestra before the bubble burst
An uncle of mine, TPL (Dr.) Obajina obafemi from the same Imogah
village who is now a Director/Lecturer in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, frowned
seriously at this devilish act by writing a petition to the relevant law
enforcement agencies which led to the arrest and detention of Chief
Michael O. Oloyo at Alagbon in Lagos State, before his bosom friend, Chief
Tony Momoh and co-mastermind came to his rescue as against the wish of
the people of Imogah community.
That he is doing Tony Momoh’s bidding should not be a surprise to Auchi
Polytechnic Staff, he is only reciprocating a kind gesture.

CHIEF MICHAEL O. OLOYO AS BOARD CHAIRMAN AT BENDEL
CEMENT FACTORY, OKPELLA, EDO STATE, DURING THE 90s

In the early 90s when the present APC National Chairman, Chief
John Odigie Oyegun was the Governor of Edo State, Chief Michael O.
Oloyo equally brought his notoriety and knack for mass sack/dismissal of
staff to bear at the Bendel cement Factory while he held sway as the board
Chairman.
Embezzlement of funds and grounding of the company was largely
and directly traced to his incompetence, highhandedness, boisterousness,
ineptitude and cheerlessness.
Oloyo’s gluttonous appetite for grabbing public funds was revealed by
an audit committee/report set up by the then Governor of the state, Chief

John Odigie-Oyegun, now the national chairman of APC, as it was revealed
that he (Oloyo) bought a brand new Peugeot 505 Evolution with public
funds. This vehicle was confiscated by the State Government, both as a
way of recovering Oloyo’s loot and a deterrent to others.
This episode marked his unceremonious exit from Bendel Cement
Factory, Okpella.

HIS UNCEREMONIOUS EXIST AS A MEMBER OF EDO STATE HOUSE
OF ASSEMBLY

During the second Republic in the 80s when NPN and UPN were the
reigning and leading political parties in Nigeria, Chief Michael O. Oloyo was
again opportuned to represent his constituency at the Bendel State House
of Assembly. He became cantankerous again and absconded from plenary
for more than 30 days to God knows where, consequently, his constituency
through the then Speaker of the House, Honourable Barrister Benson
Alegbe, passed a vote of no confidence on him and declared his seat
vacant, another fiasco.

OLOYO AS COUNCIL CHAIRMAN OF AUCHI POLYTECHNIC, AUCHI.

Apart from the fact that the Head/Chairman of Board of an academic
institution is not supposed to be appointed from the state where the
institution is domiciled in line with Federal character principles, Chief
Michael O. Oloyo was packaged by Chief Tony Momoh to whom he owe a
gratitude for rescuing him from rotting in jail. This is also being orchestrated
through clandestine and curious means to use Oloyo as a stooge to pave
way for ethnic bigotry to smuggle in Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah even
though he is a misfit for the position.

The Council’s First Inaugural Meeting in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi,
Edo State

Oloyo as an overzealous actor, ready to act out a script from his principal
and savior, hurriedly recommended the Acting Rector, Dr. Sanusi Momodu
Jimah to the Honourable Minister for confirmation as a substantive Rector.
This exercise ended in futility as it failed on arrival.
Confused and overzealous Oloyo seem to be oblivious and ignorant
of the enabling laws stating the procedures and guidelines for the
appointment of Rectors for Polytechnics as his sense and sensibilities are
already programmed and beclouded by the dictates of Chief Tony Momoh,
an APC Chieftain.

The Council’s Second Meeting

Their second meeting was not different from what we normally see in
Hollywwod and Nollywood. Chief Oloyo collapsed during the meeting and
was immediately rushed to the Polytechnic’s cottage hospital, where he
was eventually resuscitated. He undermined the Federal Polytechnic Staff
Manaual of 1990 and the Federal Polytechnic Act, 2004, wherein he was
taken decisions on staff discipline like a royal highness ruling his subjects
the way he likes.

The Registrar of the institution, Dr. (Mrs.) M.I, Aashikpelokhai, who
tried to draw his attention to the extant laws and procedures for staff
discipline was immediately forced by the council to proceed on Three
Months compulsory leave.
According to the Oloyo, “the registrar is too strict and highly
principled, she will never compromise standard and dignity, hence a threat
to his assignment in the Polytechnic”.

The Curious Interview

It is very clear that Oloyo lacks what it takes to be a junior staff of the
Polytechnic let alone the capacity to midwife a process of interview that can
lead to the appointment of a homosapien as a Rector.
From all indications, especially the issues raised about the curious
interview, Oloyo is indeed an epitome of a round peg in a square hole,
hence all his actions and inactions should be regarded as ultra vires and of
no effect.

Pre-Oloyo Era in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi

Major crises had bedeviled the institution before Oloye, “the evil
genius” was laced with the unpleasant condiment and package into the
institution to add salt to injury. Staff and students now operate under
palpable fear and siege as queries and threats of dismissal now remains
the Polytechnic anthem.
Chief Michael Olarewanju Oloyo has not started with staff and
students of Auchi Polytechnic yet but only rehearsing.
Auchi Polytechnic is actually sitting on a keg of Gunpowder.
I hereby call on the honourable minister and other well meaning
Nigerians to rescue Auchi polytechnic before it sinks further.
