Yes.

For a smartphone lacking SnapDragon chips and will not see Android OS upgrade over the next 2 years, It is a Substandard phone.

TecNo and Subpar Mobiles are...

It's 128k and not 250k to 400k.

This phone wasn't built to challenge galaxy S8 n the latest iPhone.

It has a specific market.

120k for a tecno phone? lmao

only someone who don't know much bout gadgets will spend that on a mediaTEK device.

tecno that exaggerates their specs, that 6gb ram might even be 2 or 3
I was not gonna say anything until I saw the exaggeration of specs talk. Haba, in 2017 and you're still thinking like this? If u doubt any of their phones why not run a benchmark test? If u know what that means.

lmao, man you must think I'm a newbie in gadgets and tech.

when i said they exaggerates their specs i wasn't saying it out of hatred or ignorance. i knew exactly what i was saying.

exaggerating of specs is something almost all mediaTek device makers does.

I'm not saying tecno or other mediaTek(low end) devices are bad, I'm just saying it would be unwise to spend 120k+ on one.

go make a little research bout mediatek devices, sometimes a benchmark test holds no water, it's the physical usage of devices that matters... eg iPhone x blows Samsung Galaxy s8 out of the water in antutu benchmark test but in real life usage the s8 outperformed the iPhone x by a margin.

peace

Poor screen resolution (less than 400 pixels per inch)

Can't shoot 4K videos inspite having a 20mp camera

Missing OIS and EIS

Fake 2.5D screen

No screen protection (no gorilla glass, what fuckery!)

Large bezels

Not water- or shatter-proofed

Outdated and extremely basic and glossy designs

To crown it all, not a single innovation apart from the increased RAM, megapixels and ROM.

To your question, can I pay 128k for this? Absolutely NO, there are lots of better smartphones in the market at same or similar price range.

No problems. I might have exaggerated. My emphasis however was that the speed of a phone is proportional to the cost. Same for laptop, etc.

Do not be deceived by this RAM nonsense. An Intel i7 processor with 4gb of ram will perform more than a cherry trail processor with 8gb of RAM. The o4icesseor matters a lot here, u can't compare this mediatek to Snapdragon 830 with 4gb of RAM. Also those 16, 20 megapixel cameras means nothing without the correct lens or aperture. iPhone x and Galaxy S7 only have 12 megapixel cameras and they are better than all those 16 and 20 megapixel found on these Chinese phones. Samsung now use a 1.7 aperture lense with ois, why can't Tecno tell us the aperture they are using... Probably 2.2.

Poor screen resolution (less than 400 pixels per inch)

All phones in this price range are 1080p phones. There is no phone selling new for sub 130k that has a QHD screen.

Can't shoot 4K videos inspite having a 20mp camera

That has nothing to do with camera but rather the processor

Missing OIS and EIS

How many phones do you know at this price range with an image stabilized camera? The cheapest I know is the Xiaomi mi6 ($370)

No screen protection (no gorilla glass, what fuckery!)

There is. The variant wasn't specified but my guess would be the 3

Large bezels

Lol. You keep quoting $500 phone features. The Galaxy A series group of smartphones and iPhone 8s still have bezels. Small bezel/bezeless phones are pieces of smart engineering intimated by R&grin. Adding costs for R& D will see the price go up

Not water- or shatter-proofed

Forgive me for asking but can you give me sub 130k phones with ip67/ip68 water resistance? I seriously doubt that

Outdated and extremely basic and glossy designs

This design is not outdated. This design is still the norm of mid tier devices. Premium, high range smartphones simply moved to bezeless, 18:9 screens. Those cost $900-$1000. This phone is $345

Besides, HTC/Xiaomi/Oneplus uses glossy finish on their flagships. Nobody has complained. You're getting a very good design for $345

To your question, can I pay 128k for this? Absolutely NO, there are lots of better smartphones in the market at same or similar price range.

There aren't "lots" in that price range. The only 2 new smartphones that can favorably compete are C9 Pro (more expensive, uglier looking), and Honor 9.

The only issue I see with this phone is the processor. It's very disappointing. A higher MTek or snapdragon 625/653 woulda been better.

Save for that, this phone is competitively priced especially in that packaging.

Cheers

See the kind nane sef. Wtf is UMIGIDI? If it's only this one and the Tecno that is available on this planet I will choose the tecno gladly, I mean the name alone is a turn off and both phones are basically the same. At least if I break the screen of the phantom 8 I can easily get a replacement, I can get screen protectors and case. Abeg where u want get accessories for this UMIGODO abi na wetin u call am.

But thank God there are better options than the 2 of them.

At only 125,000, it is in fact cheaper than Tecno phantom 8

Confirm price here:
https://www./samsung-galaxy-s6-32gb-platinum-gold-5548718.html

The phantom phone is ridiculously outrageous

That has nothing to do with camera but rather the processor
So what's the essence of having a 20mp camera that can't shoot ordinary 4k video?

How many phones do you know at this price range with an image stabilized camera? The cheapest I know is the Xiaomi mi6 ($370)

Samsung Galaxy S6 and it is sold for only N125k, even the 2014 Galaxy S5 has the OIS.

We are in 2017 and Tecno can't find a way around that due to zero innovation and research. They just spend money hosting street music and dance shows around Lagos Mainland (Ikeja under-bridge especially). What kind of brand grow under such condition?

There is. The variant wasn't specified but my guess would be the 3
Why is it not specified? That's fraudulent. That screen is no gorrila screen, more reason Tecno, Infinix and the likes have mastered the act of providing you people with N100 and N150 screen protectors (they actually call it gift) to protect that scratch-able, fragile and weak screen.

Lol. You keep quoting $500 phone features. The Galaxy A series group of smartphones and iPhone 8s still have bezels. Small bezel/bezeless phones are pieces of smart engineering intimated by R&grin. Adding costs for R& D will see the price go up

Bezel-less is not a big issue. Umidigi, Xiaomi, Oppo, etc. all have bezel-less phones in the range of N120-170k.

Please o, stop quoting outrageous dollar prices from thin air.

Forgive me for asking but can you give me sub 130k phones with ip67/ip68 water resistance? I seriously doubt that

Again, Samsung Galaxy S6

This design is not outdated. This design is still the norm of mid tier devices. Premium, high range smartphones simply moved to bezeless, 18:9 screens. Those cost $900-$1000. This phone is $345

Again, Galaxy S6 has a glass finish (both back and front are made with scratch resistant glass finish).

Xiaomi mi 6 is made with a ceramic finish with gold accents. One of the most beautiful phones ever, in the league of S8 and it cost just a little above the ridiculous glossy steel Phantom. You think that glossy 'stainless steel' is premium?

There aren't "lots" in that price range. The only 2 new smartphones that can favorably compete are C9 Pro (more expensive, uglier looking), and Honor 9.

Update yourself o bro

The only issue I see with this phone is the processor. It's very disappointing. A higher MTek or snapdragon 625/653 woulda been better.

The only issue I see with the phone is that it lacks innovative thinking. Simple.

You cant continue to increase RAM, camera pixels and ROM year in year out and expect people to be impressed.

How much is 6GB RAM on Alibaba? I'm sure it is less than $3.
