The unique afrobeat sound that he exported was appropriate d by American artists and producers( e.g French Montana's unforgettable was produced by 3 young white producers ) . He ended up becoming just another artists be in America.
Davido, meanwhile is cleaning out the dancefloor and people's wallet in Africa . He dips in and dips at will out of the European and American market by engaging the large African diaspora ,without staying ( gradual introduction) .
While Wizkid groupie around the USA, Davido is always touring and adding to the 30b in his "acant".
It has got to the point that you cannot tell the African essence of Wizkid's music .
The last point was the reason why their beef started .
Is ponpon sound still relevant?
It seem that it still is.
This is not about who is the better musician or makes better music . It is about the direction they chose to follow.
