The price of a brand new car in Nigeria is too high. An average Nigerians will rather use the money to build a nice bungalow and buy a first grade tokunbo car.

A brand new Toyota Camry goes for like 22million naira. How many Nigerians can make that in 2 full years without spending a dime?
Our economy is total crap.

Hmmmmmm, it's well with Nigeria

Check the people quoting me to tell me innoson are chinese cars.... they are non igbos who feel that demonising innoson or igbos makes them better. Of course they do this without having the facts.... just armed with irrational hatred for a people that are ur country men. Just what i was saying in my first post. It doesnt make sense to them that innoson can look like chinese cars without actually being made in china. Just like Landwind looks like Rangerover evogue even tho its purely a chinese car.
Innoson engineers are mainly chinese and its not unthinkable that they would make chinese looking cars

You are just a bloody ethnic bigot

We love decieving ourselves. The 2017 corolla Xse model which is the top model goes for $22,680. (Check Google). Shipping to Nigeria let's add another $2000. That's $24,680. Change to Naira at N360 that's N8.88 million. Let's say custom duty is 35% and the company adds another 20% to mark up which is a total of 55% that's N13.77 million.

In Nigeria here, the base 2017 corolla starts at about N20 million.

Now who is deceiving who?

Truth be told most of our car dealers are bloody thieving b*tches! They want to make 2x the amount they used in importing the car.

How can you want to sell a Toyota corolla base model for 20 million? There are even some of those fools that abound in the autos section of this forum!

Then those saying innoson sells Chinese cars with changed logos, I have a question.. .who cares? Seriously who gives a flying f.uck? The question we should ask is are the vehicles durable? Are they serviceable in Nigeria?

At no point has the man denied not bringing in parts from other countries! As a matter of speaking, I know his cars use Suzuki branded engines. Or you think any car brand in the world builds it's vehicles 100% in their plants? Get exposure and be wise people! Innoson is our own brand and we should support it and help it grow. Let's get rid of petty things as tribalism.

NB an Uhrobo man wrote this epistle!

Just less than 2 years ago, a brand new full option Honda accord went for 8.99 million.( from the Honda place o)
Today, a brand new one goes for close to 30 million ( full option)

Nobody is deceiving anyone

Custom clearing is 75% of cost of car.
35% duty is to be charged on the cost of the vehicle along with a 35% levy, which sums the total cost of clearing your vehicle to 70% of the cost of the car.then VAT 5%

It's not just the brand new vehicles that the sales has dropped. Even the tokunbo sales has dropped. The auto sales industry has witnessed an abysmal performance this year. It's been a very poor performance.

Exactly. Naija used cars are even being sold for more than what they cost initially,in some cases.

We hate ourselves too much to succeed in this country. Innosson cars are 60% locally sourced, which means that they will always be cheaper than imported brand new cars, but who buys them?
Nigeria needs a leader who will close our seaports and say with a straight face; 'if we dont make it here, we dont need it here'. Thats the only way to grow our local industries.
If electricity is the issue then pick one state (maybe Abuja) and give it steady power supply for industries with every and any means (including nuclear and solar)

India rarely imports. They try to make it in India
