It is the height of disdain for traditional Igbo institutions that APC which would not dare insult the Sultan of Sokoto for not standing at the airport to meet Buhari but would release statement to that effect against a paramount Igbo King. To begin with, Buhari did not land in Anambra state where Obi of Onitsha reside. Buhari landed at Enugu airport and then flew straight to a political rally via a helicopter. Obi of Onitsha in his wisdom and neutrality did not attend such rallies. The least Buhari could have done was to pay a 5 minute courtesy call to the King's palace, which he flatly refused to do. If he were in Sokoto or Kano, he would gladly have accorded the Sultan or the Emir the courtesy of visiting their palace briefly. However, this is an Igbo king whom the President has the least respect for. APC should stop denigrating and trying to insult Igbo society. It is enough that they have reduced Igbo to a minority through their appointments and completely neglected the zone in infrastructural development of Nigeria. Enough is enough! 18 Likes |

gidgiddy: Even when Jonathan gave the north the juiciest positions and built 90% of his projects in the north. GEJ always had the courtesy of visiting the Emir of Kano in his palace when he visited there or visit the Sultan in his palace when he visited Sokoto. Mind you, in this case Buhari visited Enugu state on his way to Ebonyi state and not Anambra! Why should Obi of Onitsha travel on horrible roads for 6 hours to Enugu to be in another state for Buhari? Then Buhari came to Anambra for political rally and he expected the Obi to be like Ojukwu's prodigal son to come and wear clothes with image of Buhari at the rally so he will be happy? These insults against Igbos in Nigeria must stop. While we know Odigie Oyegun and Buhari cannot say such nonsense to Emir of Kano or Sultan of Sokoto, Odigie Oyegun will not dare say such to even Oba of Benin! 8 Likes |
