Queen Gudit

She was a pagan Queen who laid waste to the Aksumite empire of Ethiopia in the 10th century AD. She destroyed many:-
- Churches
- Monasteries
- Relics
- Texts

She slaughtered many thousands of Christians and tried to exterminate the entire members of the Aksumite royal family, but one child member survived this by fleeing to the land of Amhara ppl.

She ruled Ethiopia for 40 years and was also known by other names like:-
- Yodit
- Esato
- Ga'wa
- also others....

Hmm.....why?

She was evil for Ethiopia in general, but her deed helped my ethnic groups to size power in Ethiopia after a couple of centuries.

Indigenous religions? Gudit was not a practitioner of an indigenous African religion. She was a follower of Judaism.

RedboneSmith,

The claim that Gudit followed Judaism is not being debunked. The most probable claim is now that she was a pagan Queen from southern Ethiopia.
