A member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Chris Uba, on Sunday, condemned what he called the perennial loss of elections in Anambra State by the PDP. Speaking at a press conference in Awka, Uba blamed a former governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi, for the PDP’s loss in the poll, calling on the party to avoid impunity and do introspection over its ordeal. He said the candidate of the PDP in Saturday’s election, Obaze was not known to the founding members of the party in the state, adding that Obi brought him and foisted him on everybody. Uba said, “It’s because of this impunity that Obiano won this election. My heart is bleeding that we lost this election again. Anambra State is a PDP state, yet each time we will lose to “strangers.” “How is it that each time, a party somebody is nurturing will be hijacked by strangers some months to the election? Obi has not won any election without my input. Why did he bring a foreigner to represent us in this election? That is the cause of this loss.” Uba alleged that Obi was one of the people who caused the loss of the party in the 2015 general elections. “He caused us that problem and (Goodluck) Jonathan lost that election. PDP should stop this impunity. Some of those governors that came here to campaign for the PDP here could not have been governors without my input. Why didn’t they ask after me when they came here to campaign? He said Obi must apologise to the PDP members in Anambra State for leading them into an inglorious outing at the poll. Uba added, “Obi doesn’t have the capacity to make Obaze or anybody a governor without my input. Obi has killed this party. This is an election we would have won with a wide margin. Obi carried what he could not control. “My heart is bleeding. We lost this election by coming distant third. In such a large party, you don’t use it to settle scores. Obi came into the PDP to settle scores with Obiano, his former ally. That was our bane in this election. “Obi should apologise to the PDP in five national dailies for this disappointment he caused us. Failure to apologise; I know what to do. “In 2003, I helped the PDP to produce Dr. Chris Ngige as governor; we produced three senators and 11 House of Representatives members in that election. And why is he complaining now. How com dey didn't raise their voices wen he imposed Obaze on dem. Obiano is actually d only working governor in d country ryt now, same with Aregbesola. The big problem PDP in Anambra has is that they always fight amongst themselves over who the party flagbearer will be. Its one of the major reason they have lost the last 3 Governorship races to APGA in the state. Every time, someone will impose a candidate on the party, other aggrieved aspirants will form factions and start fighting the imposed candidate to the extent that they will even openly support APGA just to spite their own party. Thats how Oseloka Obaze was parachuted into the party by Obi, hurriedly handed a waiver and imposed on the rest. All other aspirants joined hands and decided to bring Obaze and Obi down, and they did. Im an Anambra man and I know that there are areas APGA should not have won, such as Idemili and Aguata. APGA cleared the whole thing PDP probably will never rule Anambra again, APGA has sown up the state. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Peter obi blundered when he decided to go it alone. How can you alienate all senators, house of reps members, state assembly members of the PDP in the state not to talk of all the big stakeholders in Anambra PDP. He should have tried to reconcile as many as possible after the primaries 1 Like |

Anyway Obi erred by imposing a stranger as the PDP flag bearer and he decided not to mend fences with aggrieved PDP members in the state,how do he think PDP can win in such an ugly scenario. Meanwhile,Chris Uba should not boast about himself for the era of Uba's has gone in Anambra politics.Such boasting happened in 1999/2003 when election is just about "selection" because of Obasanjo enthronement of electoral malpractices and being so close to ObJ,the Uba family took Anambra for ride.Today things has changed,the Uba's are nobody in Anambra politics and many of Ndi Anambra dont like to hear that name" Chris Uba" because of the bad record and atrocities he committed in Anambra State those years. 2 Likes |

Kulas: The man is clearly deluded and living in the past . . . . The Uba name doesn't mean as much as it used so he's clearly dreaming if he thinks his influence would have changed anything. That being said, I agree that Obi is the reason for Obaze's defeat. The man should stop already, he's just ruining everything.  |
