undecided The job situation is hopeless just as hopeless as Nigeria’s future.
So persons wud say why wait on d govt to do all. Infact it shud be known that govt has an improtant and central role to play cos individuals can never do it alone without a great deal of govt’s involvement or commitment.

Afterall if govt’s intervention is not need as people with slogan go and set up your own while wait for govt should think why is it many private firms that should ve employed people gone out of business? The likes of Dunlop, Michelin and many others still struggling to remain in business. For example UNILEVER are doing most of their production in Ghana and some in Ivory Coast cos of lack of power.

Many of such ones thinks that running a small business in a small rented shop is small as big business although they face same threat.
Let us look at key areas such as provision of critical infrastructure, insecurity, insurance and tax policy among others.

Critical infrastructure: Lack of constant electricity has forced many to run on diesel or petrol driven generators which eats deep into ur profit that cud ve been used perharps to expand ur business and even employ more people. But rather such money wud be used to buy fuels which have gone up in prices and goes higher when scarce together with its attendant environmental implications like pollution and noise.

Good road network is an important aspext for the smooth movement of goods and personeel whose services are needed from one place to another but the Nigerian govt at all levels have continually failed to make good roads available. This has resulted in avoidable accidents with loss of lives and goods with losses in cash to business owners. Although reckless speed and traffic violations on d part of d drivers cant be ruled out as well.
I did my NYSC in a farming community that cultivates tomatoes but due to bad roads most of the vehicles gets broken down causing delay in time to get the products many of which wud rotten before it gets to its buyer/market miles away as well as loss in cash trying to fix broken down vehicles. No wonder the cost of transporting these products are high which wud also increase of d products where many of its buyers live on $1 or less.
Abi shey na individual go come build roads, if so what use is d govt, just to collect tax abi?
Rail systems as well as cargo airports wid have played a great role on easing the pressure on our roads but sadly Nigerian govt have no vision.

Insecurity: It is a major challenge as no one wud invest in a place where due to ethno-religious chaos all his investment cud go up in flames in just a moment. The north is a major example of this and that is why it is so hard to see major investments there. For example Guiness use to ve farms in Jos but cud never ever build a brewery there which wud ve been d wise thing to do cos indistries are often sited close to where it gets its raw materials.
Also, thefts, buglary, kidnapping has made companies invest so much in private security which many small firms cant afford. This scares potential investors.

This is the kind of rubbish I was reading in university and when I knew getting a 2 2 was imperative I tried to commit suicide. Grades are freaking overrated. If you get bad grades it's even better for you, get into the streets and hustle.

Most of you think you work harder than those those of us with a 2:2 or 3:3 while in school. You think you were smarter than us. But I think you are not smart enough to know that tertiary institutions is a place where competitions are set for different species of animals with their own peculiar limitations. You wouldn't know what some of us go through to even get to be in the same class with you. Yes, majority of those with lower grades definitely know about all these things you mentioned. But what are we to do when so many things arm twisted us to settling with what we have. Anyway, I have always said it that no fc can intimidate me simply because of his better grade. This is because I know the content of this 2:2 holder and I know for sure that having similar or even close the surrounding conditions of a fellow who had fc in my school days, I will replicate same or even do better. Please stop the stereotypical believe that 2:2 or 3:3 holders were lazy while in school or were less smarter than those who got better grades.

By the way, 80% of the questions in our tertiary schools' exams are past questions. That a person who did a thorough check of the past questions and got a better grade does not translate to having a better understanding of the subject matter than the rest of the students. In most Nigeria universities, one can easily cram his/her way to first class with the right environment. So, there Is no big deal in getting a first class my brother.

I hv said this before and i will continue to say it; " making money in life has little or nothing to do with ur academic qualification, but how u r able to take advantage of d brain God gave u.
Orji uzor kalu is d richest Igbo man alive and has no degree he used his brain to solve challenges poised by life. I hv friends who r millionaire today not by their academic achievement but some took to farming others wre able to discover their selves and r living happily today.
A handful r struggling today because dey r a square peg in a round hole. I hv bin to an interview wre a 1st class graduate was not as smart and vocal as most of us who by academic standard wre not his equal. Bros we now live in a world wre packaging sells faster dan d content, u need to package urself, make sure u r current, dress and smell nice, look responsible and not liv ur hair like oritse femi to an interview or sag like an eternal child.

Fast forward to 2017 now,I knw my worth even a bsc holder can't boast of it,Alhamdulillah robil Alamin..what am into has nothing to do with bsc cert,in fact any certificate is not required

One of d problems I feel we have is DT,we av been made believe DT having a bsc/hndcert is a sure path to success,WC is very far from d truth, besydes no where in d scripture says DT having a bsc/HND cert automatically leads to a successful life.No.dere re so many businesses around us we don't attach meaning to it,and dis businesses re potential FORTUNE LIFE CHANGER,look inward beyond ur A4 CERTIFICATE called bsc /Hnd, and lay ur hands on it,with good plan, hardwork, prayer and luck..d sky is ur limit. wink

Dear Second Class and Third Class students,

It's sad that we had to graduate with that, I wish we can go on Facebook And Twitter and beg for jobs as the first class are doing now. But no, we have to struggle and apply for thousands of job with no hope of getting interview.
The challenge is, business right now in Nigeria is so difficult, all the major things that we can produce locally are being imported. Our economy is dwindling, importation business is expensive.

What can we do?
If the first class are begging for jobs, what about us?
Lalasticlal.a, how do we get the jobs?

If first class is begging for jobs in the company of a primary 4 dropout, then dt shld tell ur chicken brain dt we are in an era of sabificate no more certificate.

What grade we graduate with is not what matters but what we have upstairs after all those years in the university.

Whats the essence of a first class in computer science that cant trouble shoot the smallest of computer problems.

Whats the justification of second class divsion graduate in mass communication that cant write a simple application letter.

whats the moral for a third class or pass graduate that cant spell basic words.

Its all in the mind, your head, your personality, your mentality.. why dont you be a first class graduate of solving human problems and see if you wont overcome those educational grade barriers.

MTN, Airtel, Globacom is what they are today becasue they are solving a problem (Communication) and it all started in the mind.
Dangote groups solves problem
Uber is solving problems

Think of a problem and solve and you will be what ever you dream to be.

oga forget that shit.. its takes money, capital to solve a problem

Lol... You used my thread for your own post.

All the same, even though I didn't graduate with 2.1 or 2.2, but I wish I can exchange my 1st class cert with so many things.

All you need do like I explained on the thread that Op is countering, is to learn a hot skill (ICT) in demand.

Then watch how you set yourself up real fast.

That is all I can say. The economy isn't smiling now and we have to act fast?!
If I have a first class, I wouldn't exchange it for a million. Why? Because it's my sweat , my effort and my trouble.
It will be the process I went through to the product.
Perhaps you didn't labour for yours, or you got it without stress.
But all the same, am currently not depending on a certificate, but the honours I have right now, whether it can't get me job or its worthless, I pride myself on it because it's the product of my work.
It shows I can be committed to something, and finish through with it. Even if it's not a first class, it's still a product of my effort.
This isn't supposed to be a counter thread, but an eye opener. We should stop depending on bachelors Honour but should also remember that the school didn't guarantee us jobs, but an "education", we should use it to work out our means of living how ever we like.
Brother, I love the honours I have.
