Congrats are in order for Adamu Abubakar Rasheed, the son of the current Executive Secretary National Universities Commission; Prof. Adamu Abubakar Rasheed, after bagging a Ph.D degree in Engineering at a university in Aberdeen, United Kingdom.

While others are congratulating the man for his achievement, others have been outraged and worried as to why the son of a former Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano and the boss of the National Universities Commission, would study abroad with the condition of universities in Nigeria.

Some are even calling for the immediate resignation of the NUC boss after flying to the UK to grace his son's graduation.

this is where we need more hands and more funds.
only u can't bring 1m to start a business for others to join.
likewise .its difficult to convince 10 people to bring 100k to start something.
we are more than 100 .and d contributions now is for the necessary things to set up a business.

God will punish anyone complaining about this. Did you people elect his son or appoint his son to do anything with the NUC? Why should his son have to obtain a drastically inferior degree from a Nigerian university when he can afford better education in the UK?

It is also sheer imbecility to blame the dad for the current state of our Naija universities. The problem with our tertiary education will take decades to fix, and that’s even with a reasonable percentage of the budget devoted to the sector.

Congrats to the graduating son.

Every parent wants the very best for their children, especially when it comes to education. It's the one area where no amount is too high to pay if you can afford it.
I don't blame the dad for giving his son the best he can afford.
All our parents gave us the best out of what they could afford too. If their best was a Nigerian university then we should be grateful and thankful to them for their efforts

Well today men in Nigeria send their kids abroad to study, either they are in public positions or not, it's something that happens. Those that can't afford that luxury send theirs to private uni. Although they ought to develop what we have here but it's a pity they don't.

Nigerians can complain. But for how long will we continue to complain when the solution is in our hand.
If we sold shares of 100 Naira each to 180 million Nigerians. We would raise enough funds to build a university 8 times better than oxford. That is the power of Crowdfunding. We wouldn't have to travel outside Nigeria for anything. In fact foreigners would want to school here.
If we could do this we could build factories and create jobs for the mass.
THESE factories will belong to the NIGERIAN people. We share the profits and loss from these factories and universities.

As for monetary aspect. The shareholders could elect board members to vote for them.
Stop complaints. The future is in your hands. Crowdfunding is the future

you think 18 billion will build Harvard? You funny. Go and check Harvard or Yale or Princeton or Oxford budget annually before talking.
