Hi Guys, Yesterday dated 26th march 2010, I needed cash of about #20k at about 9pm in the night, i decided to use my ATM card, slotted in my card, punch on the #20k sign, to my surprise, the ATM only brought out #10k, i tried checking my balance but the ATM won't let me, since it was late on Friday night, i decided to leave with just 10k because i couldn't cash out the remaining 10k. Went back this afternoon to cashout more money, but to my surprise, #10k was missing from my balance, now i am furious and very angry with myself, dunno what to do about it.  Have stuff like this ever happened to you and how did you go about it? please share. |

Nope it has never happened to me I used hear people misplace money in ATM machines You can contact your branch for enquiries and they will try and rectify it back for you but might take some protocols and delays and as per naija style or the kind of co-operation you bank with. |

You probably left impatiently when the remaining 10K came out you can imagine the smile on the face of the next person to use the machine, don't be surprise this scenario happens more often than you know |

where i am at, all u have to do is get the receipt and go to the bank so they can trace whatever, dont know what  but all i know is that when it happened to me i got the receipt from the atm and somehow the bank gave me back my money after all the necessary process |

honeric01: WOOOOH Yes I have, I went pink with rage. I went into my Local Barclays, I normally use the ATM inside the bank if possible. I did the necessary and requested my normal £100.00, I waited but the darn thing only gave a receipt showing my withdrawal. Fortunately there was a guy behind me who I asked to witness what had happened. I went to the cashier, told her what had happened she had the machine checked and found that their had been an error. Anyway to cut a long story short it took 10 days before it was returned to my account, and I had to telephone twice before the bank returned my money. |

NSNA: You are right, because my experience was something like that. i went to the bank to withdraw N3000 due to atm sevice being down, i could only withdraw N1000 after more than 10 trials. i went home only to receive a second beep on my phone that N2000 had been withdrawn from my account. at first i taught it was a joke and went back to the atm when i had chance and checked my balance and behold, i could see an empty account. I was annoyed, at first i wanted to forget about the money since it is not that much but after some time, i changed my mind and went straight ahead to the bank and reported the case even though i didnt have hope of retrieving the money. I was asked to fill a form which i did and to my greatest surprise, 2 days later, i received a beep on my phone that my account have been credited with N2000. JUST LIKE THAT. |

Mine happened @ Onitsha. I withdrew 12,000 and i heard d atm couting the money but it never came out. Meanwhile my acct has been debited by dsame amount. I was furious and wanted 2 go in 2 complain. On reaching the door of d bank, i heard the sound of the ATM. I quickly rushed back and behold my money was there. My own case was luck and i believe same tin hapnd 2 u. |

I've read a lot on here about pple loosing money to ATM's in 9ja. But so far, the polls does not reflect that. |

I have. . . . Happened to me in Surulere. Bad thing was I was gonna travel the next day & return in a forthnight; so i just wasn't sure what to do. But I was told that at the end of every working day; the ATM rolls back & restores the money back into the individual's account for such "mistakes" ; so I travelled, came back in 2 weeks, fortunately for me, my dough was still in there, intact! |

I always see my self as a lucky guy right from my childhood cause luck always happen in my life I used the cash machine just to withdraw 10 pound but it gave me 20 pound instead Another, I went to credit my account in the bank but the cashier put more money into my account by mistake Sometime ago I was damn broke, i decided to play lottery with my 1 pound, the next day i won 450 pound = 125,000 naira Years back, I was 1 of the 48 people that applied for Visa but just only me was given a visa rest of the 47 refused. 2004 My name came out of the national visa service website, i was so happy. Loads and loads of luck dont wanna continue counting them. |

oh yes about, to gtb thru my , raked for them and them replaced my money after about 48 days but i dont think the raking made them replace it , they probably would have replaced it but raking made it faster |

It has happened to me several times.The machine is prone to errors ,when it happens i usually wait patiently for the normal ''48hours'' reversal notice and effect.If nothing is done,i will simply use my cell to call customer service, to explain the situation.If nothing is done in subsequent hours,i will threaten to close my account,as if by magic my money is usually automatically reversed. Always ensue that the money did not really dispense.SOME ATMS ARE USUALLY VERY SLOW AT DISPENSING CASH.I remembered closing my account because of similar situation ,all their pleas turned deaf to me.They couldnt explaoin who used my ATM to withdraw and since I couldnt either,i resolved to close my account.No single bank has a monopoly of the business. |

Bank with Union Bank,got ripped off by their atm, rake for them,display madness,display terry G, one month you still dey rake. This has happened 2 me up 2 3 times,d 1st time twas 4k,i complaind n got d money 2 wees later,d 2nd time twas 2500,dis time after i complained,i got d money a week after,and d 3rd 1 was voucher recharge of 400 which i never receive,dis happened bout 2 weeks bak n iv not complained bout dis.i c dis as proffessional stealin,fuckt up system! |

It has happened to me,the ATM counted 40k and the money was not dispensed and my account was debited. I got it after 6 weeks depite the fact that i have given up after 2 weeks. |

honeric01: @OP, Just report to your bank. They will sort you out. It's happened to me innumerable times, and they always reversed the transaction. Hope you kept the receipts though. |

yap its a common computing error tho it has never happened to me but i hear stories like this all the time i have a friend who actually got his money doubled by an atm once, it can go either way.i guess u where just unlucky  |

In addition to Ajanlekoko's point, i hope you used your banks ATM cos if it is another bank, it would take longer for the error to be sorted out. heard a case that the victim had to wait till the end o the month. Most of the cases that were reversed speedily were same bank's ATM. |

lol, very simple, happened to me like 6 or 7 times in abj, i tend to use my atm card a whole lot over there, luckily my bank branch Stanbic IBTC is in Maitama abj, i'll run down there, fill in the form they provide, and wait, the shortest i've had to wait is 2days and the most is 3weeks, but ur money will surely come back, So all you have to do is go to your bank branch and report, they'll give u a form to fill, u dont even need the atm receipt, but if u have it hey why not, gd luck waiting |
