The ijaws and the binis are fighting over ownership of gelegele and it is at the same place that the Edo state government want to build a seaport.
I am not interested in the fight but rather want to ask if Gelegele is a river or sea?
Report I got indicated that it is a not too big river ,so how can a seaport be build on it since it is not a sea?
An edo person I asked shouted "it will be dredged"
Really Nigerians are not making noise over this herculeous project BUT if it is Igbos that talked about dredging Obeaku river in Ukwa or River Niger or Oguta lake to Atlantic Ocean in order to build a seaport, you would have seen "civil engineers wannabes " bigots telling you how it is impossible, even the efulefu will join them and be shouting Igboland is landlocked.
River Niger is far bigger, larger and deeper than gelegele, so why can't Ignore build a seaport on it?
Obeaku river in ukwa is longer and deeper than gelegele and it has the shortest Nautical to Atlantic Ocean (12•nautical ),why can't Igbos dredge it to the ocean and build a seaport in Abia?
What about oguta lake?
These are questions we should be asking, making lemonade out of lemon instead of wasting time online arguing over who accept being Igbo or not
We must have a mentality of the Israelis, breaking limitations with our brains and solving our own problems in Igbo land.
IGBO LAND IS NOT AND NEVER LANDLOCKED.

If Igbos need a Riverport in the Niger River the SE state govts will have to partner to build it, just as the Edo state govt is about to do, don't expect the FG to build ports for you because places like Ondo and Akwa-ibom have access to the Sea and the FG haven't even planned to build a port there.

Op sorry to say this, south East govs are senseless and they lack reasoning including ohanaeze Ndigbo.if not they should have partner with IPOB in achieving it.IPOB have the masses who are willing to donate money for anything igbo but our so called leaders don't have the eyes to see the opportunity.

Very true. here its the Edo state governemt that is breaking the ice. They are already leading, while we sit back and bicker. I wish South East leaders will come together and make this access to the sea a must for indi'Igbo.

Anything that advances the Igbo nation no matter how big or small makes the north and west. Especially the WEST angry and resistant. They start using bogus policy and political tools to obstruct or slow it down.

Look at what they did to Asaba and Enugu airport.

That's the thing I wonder about The South East.
They are always waiting on the FG to do things for them.
Igbos don't know the extraordinary power they possess to cause rapid development in the South East.
The amount of Diaspora capital that can be mustered for the development of the South East is in tens of billions of dollars. How Ndigbo can't come together and muster that capital is still a mystery to me.

Let me give an example. The South East is so small. A rail line running through Enugu-Awka-Onitsha-Nnewi-Owerri-Aba-PH is just about 200km. A 300km/h high speed rail would mean a 40 minute ride between Enugu and PH. Onitsha to PH- 20mins.
At building costs of $25million per km, it would take approx $5 billion to construct world class 1st world rail system. For standard gauge @ 160km per hr, we would be looking @just $1.5billion max.

To raise this money is so easy. Assign 200,000 plots of land along this rail route for the development of new world class mini cities. Sell these lands @ $15,000 average each to Ndigbo in diaspora and instantly you've raised $3 billion.

But we are here waiting on some Hausa or Yoruba man to come and build it when they haven't even built for themselves.
