Hello programmers, please your advice and suggestions are highly needed.
I have being programming for a while, and to an extent, am confident in myself that i am able and capable to handle a project effectively and get it done. But haven't said that, it doesn't work that way. I have lost some jobs n opportunities just because of a simple and straight forward question which is " Show us what you have done before "
I only have a job to show and of which, they are not satisfied because they need more that a job to be convinced. Even most times, doing a free job for people just to build my profile is not even easy to get and not coming forth, hence, condition wants to remain permanent. So for successful and gainfully employed programmers and freelancers in the house, how were you able to scale through this process and what will you suggest for me and anyone in this scenario right now. Thank you

This issue is most times faced by young programmers ......
I would advise that you diversify you field of specialization i.e you can go into graphics design and other branches....
Run online courses to give you an edge .....
Do personal projects that are presentable ....
Remember to always do things that make you relevant and would also earn you a job amongst others .

I used to face this issue too until recently. The simple solution is to work on developing your own product, a small project that delivers a service to the general public. It can be a URL shortening service, exchange rate calculator, any small project that people can use. That's what I did, and it works. If they ask for your portfolio, point them to that.

Work on challenging problems outside your comfort zone. If you complete them,
you'll be more confident in your abilities and more able to impress your prospects.

work on more projects and of course push them to github

It is a tricky situation especially if you aren't having the funds to host demo apps. Volunteer to do few free jobs and start small with discount to lure clients.

If you are an app developer, develop and publish 3-4 apps on playstore. You also need to register on github and contribute to open source that's the easiest way to sell yourself as a developer.

just go for internship in any organisation. don't target money for now. I did it and is working for me. I started from 0digit to 6digits. but you must keep improving yourself daily.

This is an interesting Topic, its one of the most difficult zone to ever be as a rookie in programming. Although most people have suggested the internship path, But here is my suggestion build your personal portfolio. go back your drawing board, make a plan. Lets say in the next six months you want to get a fulltime programming job (Goal), how do you go about achieving that?
Write out Ten Projects that you think has a market demand (School Management Solution, Hospital Solution, Financial Solutions, etc) try selling them (Self Promotion). Your last job/project will influence your next projects/Job.

Simple they asked or yr projects show them projects simple - now what of projects do some in vougue; e commerce site, HMS, APPS calling APIS, School/University Portal - host them for people to see, doesnt really matter who you do it for as long as it online, working, mobile friendly simple.
When u talk be able to convince People u did the projecs and state reasons why u did them.

Please sir I really want to go for internship but will any organisation even take undergrad students as interns. I just got admitted to Uni. I've been learning how to program for like 3 years now. I'm still learning though as I have only one finished project. If you or anyone can help with internship, it will be much appreciated.
