3 Mistakes Of Adam And Eve To Stand Condemned Before God One Must Strive To Avoi by madumelu(m): 1:52pm On Dec 09, 2017
Self condemnation has made so many a Christian guilty to standing before God and taking up his call. This ugly act makes one feels worthy not at all to approach God and then to resolve in his heart to continue with his strained ways.

But again, the bible made us to understand however that God is so compassionate, loving and merciful. And according to the book of Chronicles, we have, “if only my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land” – 2 Chron 7:14.

You see no matter how much or grievous our wrong may be or prove to us and others; God is never interested in that. He’s ever ready to associate with you and I again; if only we would willfully renounce our past ways and turn to him.

Therefore, stop condemning yourself at your wrong as in the habit of many, for you are not a judge and allow God, who we are accountable to judge us rather.

Have this also in mind concerning Gods thought for us, “Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent” – Rev 3:19.

Below are 4 mistakes of Adam and Eve, (our first parent) to stand condemned before God after their disobedience act, you and I should strive to avoid.

1) They first condemned themselves before God

When Adam and Eve found out that they have eaten the fruit God warned them not to eat from having been deceived by the devil, which came first to Eve in form of a serpent and questioned thus contrary to God’s command to them, “did God really say you must not eat from the tree that is in the middle of the garden” – Gen 3:1. When the woman had answered as the Lord has commanded them.

“You will not surely die”, the serpent said to the woman, “for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” – v. 4-5.

Eve after much dragging with all of the Satan’s lies consented to his opinion and took the forbidden fruit against God’s will. She also took to her husband, and Adam eats too.

Subsequently, the bible tells us their eyes opened and they found there were naked (that is had sinned).

At that, Adam and Eve feels unworthy of  God’s love, care and fellowship and that was the more reason they never made an attempt to showing remorse – that is plead for mercy just as David did before God when he was confronted with his sin of adultery and murder by Prophet Nathan.

“Have mercy on me, O Lord according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquities and cleanse me from my sin” – Psalm 50:1-2.

Perhaps, Adam and Eve approach to their sins were quite different and that’s the same mistake most Christians today do. When you do wrong or found out you are not in the right track again with God. Don’t feel condemned or unworthy to appeal to him. God is merciful and just and always eager to accommodate us again (see 1 John 1:9).

2) They sought fig leave and covered up themselves

Again when Adam and Eve found out there where naked; they made a very silly mistake most people still do today – covering up their unclothedness (their sin).

“… So they sew fig leaves together and make coverings for themselves” – Gen 3:7.

According to the proverbs, “he who conceal his sins will not prosper, but he who confesses and renounces them find mercy” – Prov 28:13.

God never delight in sin not to talk of one covering his sin. The bible tells us, God’s eye is too holy to behold iniquity. Adam and Eve made that mistake – they try to cover up their sin instead of feeling remorse and confessing them before God.

Covering your sin won’t help issues at all. Confess them to God and set yourself free.

Learn from the story of the prodigal son Jesus taught about in Luke 15.  He uncovered his shortcomings by admitting his wrongs and returned back to his father. After all set and done, the father still accepted him as his son and not a servant he had requested for and even organized the best banquet for him for taking such decision; so the bible tells us heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents.

I want then to judge yourself what could have become the fate of this young man, if he had not decided to uncover his sin and going back to the father. Perhaps, he would have died and rot in his piggy and wretched state. However, the bible tells us God’s desires no one should perish but all to come to repentance – 2 Pet 3:9.  Therefore, when you discover you have sinned, don’t hide but uncover yourself before God and plead for his mercy; He desires such approach and ever ready to forgive you and father you again.

3) When God called them – Adam was so afraid and he gave excuses for what wrong they had done.

This was a very grave mistake of Adam and Eve that led to God’s final condemnation on them and sending them out of the Garden of Eden.

“But the Lord called to the man, where are you? He answered, “I have heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid. And he said, “Who told you that you are naked? Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat? The man said, “The woman you put here with me – she gave me the fruit from the tree and I ate it” – Gen 3:9-12.

However, when either our conscience or by hearing the WORD of God or another confronts us of our sin, we shouldn’t hold on excuses why we did what we did or by whose cause we have done that. Mistakenly or not mistakenly, intentionally or not intentionally; we should learn to accept our wrongs and plead for forgiveness unlike Adam, who said to God, “the woman you have given me…”  No, that was a very bad approach. Adam should have accepted his shortcoming and rather pleaded for mercy than to giving excuses.

Now back to you and I, God is never interested in whom or what causes us to do that (sin); we must face the consequences if you don’t turn away from them.

In conclusion, no matter how grievous you think you’ve wrong God and unworthy of his mercies, don’t judge or condemned yourself. Self condemnation is devils strategy to terminate our relationship with God. Have this mind in you, Judgment is the lord’s.

The bible tells us, “if we judge ourselves truly, we should not be judged. But when we are judged by the Lord, we are chastened so that we may not be condemned along with the world” – 1 Corin 11:31-32.
