If you are coming home for the Xmas and new year celebrations, please avoid Upper Iweka if possible. That place is now very very unsafe for pedestrians.
People get robbed of their valuables by armed robbers, operating as commercial bus drivers.
Avoid buses that have only men or boys as pasengers. These ONE CHANCE robbers would force their victim to enter their buses at gun point, especially if he or she is walking alone. They would eventually take him or her to their hide out, usually inside the bushes along Obosi road, where they would rob him of his valuables. Please you can share your experience here.

My younger brother was walking along the the road, when a bus pulled by his side. One of the boys in the bus came down and forced him into the bus at gun point. They drove him towards Obosi road into a bush, where they robbed him of his laptop and other valuables. They asked for his atm card, and luckinly he had lost it to an atm machine earlier that day. They would have killed him if they had gotten his atm card.
A friend got robbed the same way, there today.
Please avoid buses that have only boys or men as occupants.

If you are someone that enjoys safety, serenity, cleanliness, quiet and conservative life, Onitsha is not a perfect place to be especially during christmas not because of it's loudiness or densely population but because of the people's greed for money and over-ambitiousness to maximize wealth in order to show off during christmas, hence forcing some of them to involve in all manner of shady and obnoxious deals as well as criminal activities. It's only in onitsha that transporters outrageously triple transport fares because of slight increase in fuel price. Also in onitsha that petrol marketers sell above the govt regulated pump price because of christmas or outrightly hoard it to create temporal scarcity. Traders mostly promoters (ndi oso afia) triples the prices of their products because of the yultide season. If you think I'm lying, visit Main market or ochanja or Ose market this christmas season and February next year and compare the differences. You'll also notice a difference in transport fares.
