Hello nairalanders! a very close friend of mine have been on my neck for past one week to help him make a career choice, He has a savings of 800,000 and was planning to go into business by 2018,recently he got shortlisted for npower agro, he has done his verification and waiting for the outcome,.Last week, He was offered a one year contract with PAGA(renewable based on performance) to source and bring in paga pay point agents with basic pay of 40k + commissions based on number of agents got for each month . He has been asking me to help choose either to stick with plan of starting up a business or take up marketing the company pay point services. I will welcome every advice here as it will sum up part of advice I will give him, all your candid advice will be welcomed .

He shouldn't even apply for any of them. He should use his money and set up a biz dat will be paying him even more than 40k weekly

Talk him to using 400k to buy bitcoin and let it be in a wallet, then use the other 400k to set up a luxurious game centre with barbing saloon or football view centre.

If he doesnt break even mid next year from the game centre/barbing/view center business, Bitcoin will recoup his 800k mid of the year and even make profit at end of the year.

Tell him to forget about the npower. Let him take up the 40k job and continue saving more for the business he has at heart. No saving is too much and there is no specified time you can't start a business.

With the marketing job. He will meet several people, who knows who through which luck might shine on him.

He will be exposed to several business opportunities and ideas.

Let him try out the marketing job while he keeps his 800k intact. It's good to be independent considering what employers of labour are doing to youths in this country, but establishing and sustaining a business in Nigeria is not easy either.
One good thing about marketing job is the exposure and opportunity to try out other things. With that he can get clue of a business he can invest in while doing his job.

Let him save the 800k and go for the marketing job. I see doors opening for him soon.
