ATIKU'S RE-EMERGENCE IN PDP

A lot has been said about Atiku's movement from party to party. Does this make him look desperate and unserious? Answering this question, we need to take a look at world history, it's affirmative that world leaders like Abraham Lincoln, Sir Winston Churchill, and others went through so much before actualizing their political dreams.

Atiku's resonate service in government has given him the launching pad to touch lives in his home state. In Adamawa state where he hails from, women have been massively empowered through soft loans. In a recent interview with Waziri of Adamawa, he expressed satisfaction with the gesture of women so far by returning about 98% of the loans. A case that looked almost impossible in Nigeria. Most time, beneficiaries of soft loans disappear with the loans given them. Perhaps, explanations will be made on how this was achieved in due time. The cheering news is that plans are in top gear to replicate this gesture nationwide. Over 45,000 families have been lifted out of joblessness and poverty through Atiku's microfinance company in Adamawa state.

Going down memory lane, Obasanjo's administration where Atiku Abubakar served meritoriously for eight good years as the vice President recorded a handful of differences between the duo. This disagreement generated because Obasanjo perceived Atiku's interest in contesting for the no 1 position of the country. Ironically, Obasanjo declared Atiku unfit for the glorious position by labeling him a corrupt leader. Efforts made to find anything incriminating to confirm the accusations proved abortive. Not all the cataclysmic treatment on Atiku' image was a reason for him to be miffed. He was still loyal to his boss. From that time till present, Atiku still challenges anyone who finds any evidence to bring out whatever is gotten against him.

In 1993, Atiku was actively involved in an epic presidential primary when he took on both Chief MKO Abiola and Baba Gana Kingibe. He enjoyed the influence of his political Godfather, Major General Shehu Musa Yaradua of blessed memory. He was later rejected as the running mate of MKO who later emerged with the ticket as the presidential candidate of SDP. Political analysts have submitted that one of the albatrosses MKO suffered in politics was the rejection of Atiku as his running mate in the 1993 presidential elections. Indeed, Atiku's dumping was a remote cause for the annulment of MKO's June 12 victory.


PDP needs a candidate with the brightest chance and that can only come from someone who has major experience, exposure, capacity, knowledge about running an economy, who is a Nationalist and not a sectional and whose brand cannot be intimidated in any way by the power of incumbency. Atiku Abubakar being an astute politician, international businessman, philanthropist, obstinate socialist and one of the founding fathers of PDP has all it takes to give life and formidability to the economic and political atmosphere of Nigeria.

As at 1992/93, Atiku didn't have the political clout to swim in the big waters of national politics. Yaradua , Annenih, Chief Nzeribe, Major Azika retd, MKO, Olu Falae, Tinubu ,Alhaji Babangana Kingibe were the pladiators in SDP them.

Even if he were under consideration at all for VP post, Alhaji Kingibe's clout completely dwarfed Atiku's . Atiku wasn't the reason 1993 election was annulled. What was his influence then in the military circle. If you say it was because of Alhaji Bashir Tofa, presidential candidate of NRC who was favoured by the AFRC to win,it would have been more understandable.

If however the claim that his not being chosen as a VP was why the election was annulled then Atiku should be regarded as an enemy of democracy and by extention an enemy of the state.

Atiku's corrupt tendency if wasn't proven during OBJ regime has started manifesting now because he feels he is untouchable.
