Incase you are not aware !

Between 1983 and 1985, Peter Onu of Nigeria was Acting Secretary-General of the OAU. At the 1985 Summit in Addis Ababa, statesmen like Julius Nyerere, President of Tanzania, lobbied for his election as substantive Secretary-General. However, there was a major stumbling block to Peter Onu’s candidature: his Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, was campaigning against him. Buhari claimed: “This generation of Nigerians and indeed future generations have no other country than Nigeria.” But when the crunch came, his allegiance to Nigeria disappeared. In the election of the OAU Secretary-General in 1985, Buhari voted against Nigeria and for Niger instead. He secured the election of Ide Oumarou, a Fulani man from Niger; as opposed to an Igbo man from Nigeria. By so doing, Buhari became the first and only Head of State in the history of modern international relations to vote against his country in favour of his tribe... - Vanguard, February 3, 2015

The article is both interesting and troubling. At first I thought it was fake news. Then, I googled it and found it to be a true account in the book titled – _The OAU: Reality Or Fiction by Ibrahim Daggash, former Head of Information and Communication, Organization of African Unity (OAU); pg 69; ISBN 1-9044722-25-3._
Whilst the refusal of Gen. Mohammadu Buhari to aid the election of his country man to head the OAU in preference to his fellow Fulani from another country (Niger) is a glaring example of this man’s mindset is troubling, most troubling from the Author’s account was his reaction when the vote was tallied and Gen. Buhari found out his country man was defeated. Ibrahim Daggash in his aforesaid book narrated it as follows:
_“What was astonishing, when the vote was in favour of Niger’s candidate, the Nigerian Head rejoiced to such a degree that he was unable to control his emotions. That was a moment I witnessed and was convinced that General Buhary would not last long as a leader.”_

It is sad indeed ...!Comrd Bulus Paul Jacob

Tired of you people not reading your own history.

Onu did NOT contest for the position, he was next in line and was naturally expected to run but it was an unwritten rule in the OAU that big countries should not contest for the post of Sec Gen so as to ensure that the smaller African states could apply and win.

In honor of that agreement, Onu decided not to contest.

With regard to the election of the AU Commission Chairperson, it is too early for Nigeria to review its principled stance against the Big-Five financial contributors seeking to occupy this position. Notwithstanding South Africa’s decision to act otherwise, all Nigeria did was to unequivocally express strong support for the unwritten norm. The necessity to promote inclusion, sense of belonging and accommodation irrespective of size and endowment would impel the encouragement of medium and small African countries to occupy that position to ensure greater unity and solidarity. Now that South Africa has broken the age-long tradition, she must bear the burden of acting urgently to heal the wounds that its action has brought, and in the same vein, take positive steps to consolidate unity on the continent.

Now that evidence has been shown, do you now believe the article is just the usual boring attempt at wailing needlessly and fortifying that victim mentality?

This is becoming really boring.

There is no nepotism on this issue.

It was actually used by Femi Aribisala in 2015 in a bid to gain electoral points but I expect people to have read and found out the truth by now.

I agree there was no nepotism on this issue.
What I meant was the well documented and legendary issue of Buhari's nepotism in the past.

The thing with lies is this, when someone has been lied against once and people see that the lie was to paint the person bad, you can question every other thing they told you about the person. So this was a lie, how can we say the other cases pf "nepotism" are not also lies?

You don't have to do extensive research into his past to understand his nepotism.

Ibrahim Daggash, former Head of Information and Communication, Organization of African Unity (OAU); should know better. He reported that ONU contested and Buhari voted against him

These are the former Sec Gens of the OAU

1. Diallo Telli of Guinea (1963-1972)
2. Ezo Ekangaki of Cameroon (1972-1974)
3. William Eketi Mbomoua of Cameroon (1974-1978)
4. Edem Kodjo of Togo (1978-1983)
5. Peter Onu of Nigeria (1983-1985)
6. Ide Omaru of Niger Republic (1985-1989)
7. Salim Ahmed Salim of Tanzania (1989-2001).

Notice that none of the top 5 financiers of the OAU ever had their nationals as Sec Gen. Onu was there in an acting state. Not Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Algeria and Libya because they did so so as not to intimidate other states.

It was a gentleman's agreement that Nigeria had to honor for the sake of the OAU

Buhari has more affinity for his Fulani brothers outside the country than Nigerians, you can see the way he is handling the herdsmen issue, he is also going yo use our money to construct rail lines to his brothers in Niger, so can do that.

What if I told you that that picture you just posted is also fake?

What if I told you that everyone on that list was retired in June 2016 because they have reached the statutory age of retirement?

So someone complies a list and says it is a list of military officers retired by the FG on the first Friday of the year but none of the people on that list was in active duty as at July 2016. So obviously someone made up the news to make it seem like nepotism just the way someone made up the news about Onu.

When I said there are too nany lies going round, you think I am blind but here is evidence

Now after these two things, I expect you to rethink and research each news of nepotism before you believe or spread them because someone might just be using you as a pawn to spread their own narrative and making unsuspected Nigerians liars

You didn't explain why the Minister of Defence, Internal Affairs, Police IG, DSS, and almost all the service chiefs are of northern extraction. Can you explain why Buhari's relatives like Mamman Daura, Abba Kyari were invited to serve? Can you explain the lopsided recruitment at NNPC and other fed govt parastatals?

I have just showed you how two out of three things you posted are false and propaganda yet you chose to hold on to a certain believe that has been forged into your mind by politicians.

Are you not even bothered, outraged or ashamed that someone told such lies and you believed?

I can bet if I gave you propf of this one you still wont accept so why would I bother?

In the end, you believe what you want to believe. If you choose to believe lies, fine.

If you choose to find out more to see if it is true or false fine.

Both ways, I'm done
