The crucifix probably had retractable arms and was folded before putting in the bottle and while in, the short arm going across was spread back out again using a stick or something.

The is a screw joining the arms of the crucifix together that can easily make the crucifix bendable

Big lie. I have Chinese Collegues, these guys don't joke with their ancestry, they are crazily superstitious and fetish too.
