Hon. Mustain Abiodun Tobun is a ranking member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency 1 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.Tobun, who is Chairman, House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, in this interview, speaks on the various projects being carried out by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and why he opines the governor deserves a second term in office. Excerpts:

As the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, do you agree with those who say Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has not performed in terms of infrastructure developments? Let me begin by saying Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is a God-sent leader.He is somebody who has a mission, vision and a set target to deliver on everything he promised Lagosians during his electioneering campaign. Ambode is a leader who is interested in doing projects that will impact positively and add value to the lives of the people wherever they may be.

You hail from Epe just like the governor and there are allegations that he is concentrated developments in that area of Lagos?

That is not true. Those saying that are being economical with the truth. First and foremost, Epe has been neglected since independence. It’s like Epe had been abandoned. As one of the divisional headquarters, it is expected that what Governor Ambode is currently doing should have been done long ago. As the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, I can authoritatively tell you that the governor is doing wonders in other parts of the state. So, the man is touching everywhere and there is no justification for anyone to accuse him of concentrating majority of projects in Epe alone.

Do you think all these achievements qualify him for another term in office?

A second term in office for Governor Ambode is sacrosanct. There is no question about that. We have less than a year to the submission of the party’s flagbearer for governorship election, nobody has been bold enough to come out both within and outside of APC and say ‘ I want to contest as the governor of Lagos’. Even those in opposition whom we thought will contest against the governor are decamping to APC. When you ask them why they are joining APC, they say it is because of the sterling performance of the governor. That is why I said Ambode’s second term is sacrosanct.

How will you rate him in terms of security?

You can see that crime rate has greatly reduced in Lagos State. There is no part of the world that is crime-free, not even in western countries with their advanced and sophisticated technologies. The governor has invested a lot in security. He has judiciously maximized the Security Trust Fund, equipped the Police, Task Force and Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

Ambode has performed very well... There is nothing to accuse him unlike his baba at the top....
