DELTA State Government has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the ongoing storm water (deep underground sewer) projects in the flood prone areas in Asaba, the state capital, saying thar the Nnebisi Road drain, connecting the Direct Labour Agency (DLA) Road, Jesus Saves Road and Agric Road will be completed in May this year.

The state government also said that the ongoing Asaba Airport Runaway project, recently awarded to Setraco Construction Company will be completed in four months.

The State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, who dropped the hint during the inspection of the ongoing projects in Asaba yesterday, said that government has created effective measures for the realisation of the star projects within specification and time.

Augoye, who commended the residents of the affected areas for their patience, reassured them of the state government’s readiness to realise the projects, adding that once the Nnebisi section of the project is connected with the DLA/Jesus Saves/Agric Roads project, the environmental problems affecting the residents would have been fully addressed.

On the menace of flood water on DBS, Cabinet office Road and environs, he noted that the ongoing drainage (sewer) project from Marian Babangida Road will effectively address the situation.

While inspecting the Airport Road drain, Okpanam, and the ongoing long drain project from Okpanam Road to Ibori Golf Course in Asaba, he urged the contractor in charge of the Airport Road project to increase the pace of work to avert the devastating impacts of flood in the flood-prone areas.

The commissioner equally called on the contractor handling Okpanam Road to work round- the- clock, to deliver the project on specification and time.

Earlier, the commissioner who inspected the ongoing Asaba Airport Runaway, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, adding that ‘the project is very vital for the socio-economic advancement of the state.’He noted that the project, when completed in four months time, will be able to harbour bigger aircraft, a fact he said, will benefit the state financially.

The Airport Project Director, Mr. Austin Ayemidejor, also expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, adding that the project. when complete will be one of the longest runway lines in the nation, capable of accommodating big aircraft.
