baralatie:

where did you get your own genealogy that Oranmiyan's is not Oduduwa child
Where did you see it that I inferred that Oranmiyan wasnt Odua descendant? This NL is indeed a place, where all sort of information creep up . Go back and check the response properly, Mr . grin
And if you want to infer on my ancestor, come on Yoruba thread. I am above this Edo info on Pseudo Bini's tiny kingdom.

NOte: He who is beneath is beneath.Bini is beneath ILE IFE . In fact ,you will have to descend down to go to Bini from ILE IFE.

If anything, Benin is getting more attention than it deserves by revisionist novel history by propaganda.

The only time historians relate to Benin is in comparison with their Yoruba imposition of Oba on Ogiso and the Ogiamen.

No one belongs to Benin royal House without Yoruba names. All these commoners that carry Oba bags are noise makers.

Ashipa, a Yoruba warrior that fought Benin night marauders to a standstill, was the compromised first king of Lagos given a piece of land as Iga in Lagos.

How a house becomes a state of Lagos can not be surprising in a country where a snake swallowed an elephant abi na billion naira sef.

OBA OF BENIN HEAD OF THE BENIN EMPIRE OWNS WESTERN, SOUTHERN AND EASTERN MODERN DAY NIGERIA
- Oba Akiolu of Lagos

The dust has finally settled after years of controversies and heated arguments who the real owners of present day Lagos are, the whole of Western Nigeria and the East of the Niger down to the Nigerian south Atlantic Coast.

The Oba of Lagos, His Royal Highness, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has finally told the world via a historical narrative and background the real owners of Nigeria's economic capital city of Lagos and parts of  neigbouring Benin Republic.

Lagos, he said, belongs to the Great Benin Kingdom and has never been part of Yoruba land.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Lagos Monarch which was released from his palace.

The statement reads:

“Coming from the palace, with what I was told by my late paternal grandmother who is a descendant of Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi and also reading from factual Historical books, let me share this Knowledge with you all on Eko/Lagos.

“Modern day Lagos was founded by Prince Ado, the son of the Oba of Benin, Prince Ado was the first Oba of Lagos, the son of the Bini King, Prince Ado, named the town Eko until the Portuguese explorer Ruy de Sequeira changed the Maritime town to Lagos, which at that time from 1942 was Portuguese expedition center down the African Coast.

“It was a major centre of the slave trade until 1851. Lagos was annexed by Britain via the Lagos treaty of cession in 1861, ending the consular period and starting the British Colonial Period. The remainder of modern-day Nigeria was seized in 1886 when the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria were established in 1914 Lagos was declared its capital due to the struggle of the Bini King.

“Lagos experienced growth prior to the British Colonial rule and even more rapid growth during the Colonial rule throughout the 1960s, 70s, continued through the 80s and 90s till date. Thanks to the Awori’s, Bini’s, Yoruba’s, migrants across the nation and the world at large, as no particular group of people can take the glory alone.

“Lagos is made up of Lagoons and creeks. The Lagos lagoon, Lagos Harbour, five cone creeks, Ebute-Metta creeks, Porto-Novo creeks, New canal, Badagry creeks, Kuramo waters and Lighthouse creeks.

“The Awori’s and Bini’s are known to be the first settlers of the Eko land. The Awori’s are speakers of a distinct dialect close to that of the Yoruba language with a rich Bini mixture. Traditionally, Awori’s were found in Ile-Ife, they were known to be the Bini’s who followed their self-exiled Prince, the first son of the Ogiso (now called Oba) of the Benin Kingdom, whose step-mother was after his head.

“The exiled Benin Prince Izoduwa known to the Yorubas as Ooduwa (Oduduwa) was made the ruler of the Ife people due to his powers and followers from the Great Benin-Kingdom.

“Izoduwa (Ooduwa) was made the first King of Ile-Ife in 1230 AD. His followers from his father’s Kingdom in Benin are the today’s Awori people who settled in Eko now called Lagos.

“In 1300, the King of Benin-Empire heard from one of his traders who was a settler in Eko on how the Bini’s were treated by the Awori’s who lived in their area. Upon hearing this, the King of Benin commanded the assembling of a war expedition, led by his son, Prince Ado, which headed the settlement of the Awori’s and demanded an explanation.

“On arriving Eko, Prince Ado and his Army were more than received. The Aworis asked the Bini Prince to stay and become their leader. Ado agreed on the condition that they surrender their sovereignty to the Oba of Benin, to which the people agreed. Hearing this, the King of Benin gave his permission for Prince Ado and the expedition to remain in Eko.

“The Oba of Benin sent some of his chiefs including the Eletu, Odibo, Obanikoro and others to assist his son, Oba Ado in the running of Eko.

“From the crowning of Prince Ado as the first Oba of Lagos (then called Eko), Lagos served as a major center for slave trade from which the Aworis, the Oba of Benin and his son the Oba of Lagos and all the children/descendants who took over as his successors for over four centuries supported the trade.

“The Oba of Benin was the head of the Benin Empire which is the present-day Western, Southern and Eastern modern day Nigeria. The King never obliged anyone to speak the Bini language as he believed everyone was entitled to their own choice of language.

“The name Eko was given to it by the first king of Lagos, Oba Ado, the young and vibrant Prince from Benin. Eko was the land now known as Lagos Island, where the king palace was built.

“The palace is called Idugaran meaning “palace built on pepper farm” Oba Ado and the warriors from Benin together with the early Bini’s settlers in Eko and the Awori people settled in the southern part of Eko called “Isale Eko”. “Isale literally means bottom “. Must have been used to indicate downtown (as in downtown Lagos)

“Until the coming in of the Benin’s 1300AD, Lagos geographical boundary was Lagos mainland, Lagos Island, the seat of the Oba of Lagos then consisted of a pepper farm and fishing post. No one was living there.

“About 1450 AD some Yorubas who hailed from Isheri in Ogun-state and Ekiti were allowed by the King to settle in Eko during a war, they came in a very large numbers thereby surpassing the numbers of the Awori’s and Bini’s. (Hence Yorubas claim to own Eko due to their numbers).

“Oba Ado fell in love with a beautiful woman whose father was Awori and mother a daughter to one of the chiefs; they had two sons and also a daughter Erelu Kuti, who begot Ologun Kutere who later became King.”

*Below is an interview granted by IYOHA JOHN DARLINGTON to Radio France International live in Paris, France which lends credence to Oba Akiolu's claims.

1. Ogiso never existed in BC, but in 10,000AD - Many historians and explorers wrote, even Benin historian Eghareva said in his book
2. Benin never built long wall but surrounded by a large moat mud not up to 100 km.- No archeological or anthropological to prove it, but sketch picture and lies that follows it.
3. Benin Empire fell in the early 1800, and already lost its influence before British came to finish everything.
4. Oba Benin didn't wage war with British, he didn't sign agreement, but the British came back to the palace with their Saro soldiers from Lagos to finish the remain of Benin Kingdom.
5. Oyo Empire is 2x of Benin Empire when they both thrived as empires, Benin was not the most influenced.
6. Oba of Benin is a prince of Ife, the cradle of the Iran'fe people, also known as Yoruba people - Oba of Benin is an Iran'fe known as Yoruba today.
7. Edo People are 4 types of People, they were taken to the new land from Ife, under the Ogiame/Ogiso suprachiefdom of Igodo.
8. Edo people were not satisfied with the leadership of Ogiso/Ogiame, their chiefs came back to Ife to seek for the kind of leadership like the system in Ife and other Kingdoms, which produced them the Oranmiyan, with his warriors that destroyed Ogiso/Ogiame suprachiefdom and established Oba dynasty. But despite that, they were never satisfied and causing anger and havoc in the land, which led the place named "Ile-Ibini", meaning the "Land of Anger".
9. Oranmiyan short stay in Ibini, established the new system of leadership, also instructed the warriors turned chiefs that came with him from Ife to stay with the child he bore and install him as the Oba of Ile Ibini, which coined the title of the Oba as "Omo N'Oba n'Edo", ("Oba of Benin" is not a title) "Omo Ni Oba Ni Edo" is a Yoruba word, NOT Edo language. The first word that came out of Oba Eweka was Yoruba words "Owo Mi Ka" (my hand has touched it), which the chief chose as title during the Oba Eweka coronation "Owo Eweka".
9. Oba of Benin refer the "Ooni of Ife" as "Oghenne Uhe".
10. Internation schools and studies have considered the Benin history as mostly lies and irrelevant. Especially, when no evidence to back up their historical claims.
11. Benin did not start using gun in 1400, the gun that the Portuguese sold to Oba Benin in exchange of over 2000 slaves were 65 musket guns in 1740, which was invented in 1665.
12. Oba Benin sold slaves that the Portuguese used in their sugar-cain farm, at the place today called Sao Tome and Principe. They later stopped selling male slave for warfront purpose, and Oba started selling their mothers, sisters from age 7 to 35 to Europeans and which they'd used to force having sex with another male in other to give birth to another slave just like dogs.
13. Many of Iran'fe (Yoruba) language names in Benin have been lost by the Edo people adding "C", "V", "Z" to them, and sometimes called it as its not spelt. Examples are the: "Ewuare" (Ewu are), which means "Victory", they call it "Ewaye"; "Orogbuwa" which means "Wealth bore Character' in Yoruba, changed to "Orhogbua". If you ask Benin person to say the meaning of those words, they don't know, or they would say "god has done something"...

First of all Edo is a people not a land. You are confusing with Edo state which is a land named after the name of the people who live in it.
Although the people of Delta are also Edo.
Second of all, I don't know if you are aware but oranmiyan, oduduwa are just myths like father christmass.
When has yoruba ever been a kingdom which waged war ?
To the best of my knowledge, yoruba means people of oyo whose kingdom got annihilated by the fulani.
And now several different ethnic groups are buying into the yoruba label and declaring themselves yoruba.
I will have you reminded that the yoruba have never been good in any warfare, you are the only southern people who got their asses kicked by the fulani, and it was so bad that you guys had to run into the forest and abandon your kingdom.
For your information, the superpower of West Africa (before the British arrived) was the Benin Kingdom!
yoruba have never been a match for Benin Kingdom. Benin Kingdom gave a tough fight to the british empire, while yoruba gave up to the british without a fight!
The point which confuses most of you yoruba is that your chiefs have all decided to copy the title "Oba" which belongs only to Omo n'Oba n'Edo. It is from there that you uneducated lads start twisting history and believe that the word belongs to you because "you be plenty". And then your sick brains go further to suggest that since the Edo have an Oba, therefor the yoruba must have conquered the Edo.

Ekaladerhan does not exist, unperfected story telling. The story started in 1975 when the Ogiame began a court case of challenging the Oba over their kingdom and land, they quickly came up with that nollywood story titled "Ekaladerhan " to defend their court case. Meanwhile, they forgot Oranmiyan is a grandchild or last son of Oduduwa, who had elder brothers, the like Owa Obokun of Ijesha, Alake of Egba, Olupopo of Popo (Benin Republic), Onisabe of Sabe (Benin Republic), Oba Ajashe of Port Novo (Benin Republic), Alaafin of Oyo, Orangun of Ila and many more. All of them said their father Oduduwa is not Ekaladerhan, Oranmiyan is just a grandchild that cannot tell the story of their father, Oduduwa Olofin Adimula. Obatala, Oduduwa and some others were siblings from Otu-Ife. They never migrated or came from anywhere, that's where they believe their ancestor was created by God (Orunmila about 1000BC). grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

macof:
Did you not read all my post or you lack comprehension
I never said there was no Ogiso Owodo, take that up with your lunatic brother historyworld031, who said Ogisos did not exist.

What I am saying is simple - Ekaladerhan is not Oduduwa, there is no single evidence to your Ekaladerhan claim, because it is a recent fabrication that has no traditional source

Yoruba obsession with Benin will never stop, of course everything these Yoruba say are blattant lies
Re: The Great Benin Empire by Nobody: 9:20pm On Dec 30, 2022
These Yoruba never let things go, you prove them wrong, they come back in 3 months with their initial claim which was proven wrong but with a slight modification.

1) West African history doesn't go back 10000 years, so what is @ralphorb hallucinating about?
2) ogiso, oduduwa, oranmiyan are stories, not historical facts !
3) you guys don't really understand the concept of history. Why do you insist on pretending to know history while just pushing your fake history upon gullible kids ?
